He wasn't legible for next years draft and had he been allowed to enter the supplemental draft every player after him with a legal issue pre draft would have appealed any conviction and asked to be moved to the supplment draft to manipulate were they go

This is the type of a case a lawyer can make a name for themselves
Yeah, but I'm just wondering who he can really go after ... he had already committed to the draft, hasn't been charged with anything, so why should the NFL excuse/remove him from his commitment just because his stock drops? I don't see a case there, it's just business & the NFL didn't do anything to cause his decline in value.

The 32 NFL teams that did not draft him cannot be found culpable ... what did they do other than avoid him for possible future legal issues?

The police for investigating him and/or naming him a person-of-interest in his baby-mama's murder? IDK if there would be a case there either ... they're just doing their job as part of a murder investigation.

It's kinda' an odd situation and maybe the NFL is erring on the side of caution, but in today's NFL climate, they sorta' have to, IMO.

Just one of those situations the guy is gonna' have live through ... at least there's some light at the end of the tunnel in that there will still be some lucrative NFL contracts and an NFL career available to him when it's all cleared up.

But yeah, I agree, ... if there's a way for an attorney to build a case outta' this one, they're undoubtedly working on it as we speak, .

Thanks ... that clears it up it somewhat. Did not know about the "won't sign contract after first four rounds" deal and the supplemental draft issue for future draft eligible players with legal problems is a valid point ... NFL does not want to set a precedence and/or open Pandora's Box by allowing Collins too much leeway ... it's just good business, .

Re: La'el Collins, What Do We Know?!?

Only recourse for La'el Collins that I could see so far would be to prove collusion, and that would be impossible to prove without communications (i.e. emails) or multiple witnesses...

The other would be to somehow find evidence that either someone from the league office or an agent(s) from one or more of the 32 NFL franchises conspired with the police and press to release the damaging press release of his person of interest connection to the murder of the young mother and infant.

The silver lining for him is that he will be a free agent faster than most; and with that talent he could get a max contract earlier in his career...

But it's hard to label him a victim when a young mother and her child are dead.

Collins is not a victim, he's alive. I'm sure after his name is cleared some team with sign him.

Re: La'el Collins, What Do We Know?!?

A team will sign him before he's cleared because of his potential as lineman.

If it's discovered he participated in any wrongdoing, they'll void the contract which I'm sure will have language to address such a situation.

Unless a team doesn't want a distraction, he'll be signed by the end of the day...

Ok, those make sense. The whole timing of the thing is kind of suspicious, I can see collusion and I luv me a good conspiracy, .

Re: La'el Collins, What Do We Know?!?

It would not surprise me at all if the league owners had spoke to each other about taking a step back from this sort of thing at a meeting. Remember that the owners are really just the shareholders of a multi billion dollar franchise and a black mark on one effects all of them down the line.

If Collins or his agent tried pushing a big case against the league they will get black listed and kiss good bye to more money. Collins doesn't have the backing of the NFLPA as he cant be a member without first being a player

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

And that "timing" factor is what I think bears closer scrutiny, investigation.

F***ing with another man's paycheck, at the very least, deserves a thorough, public @$$whoopin...
