Anyone pulling for Carolina the Win the Superbowl?

Is anyone pulling for Carolina to win the Superbowl or all we all hoping Manning wins?

I give credit to both Cam an the Carolina Defense. They certainly looks like Payton will lose another championship.

I'm sure Payton can even think about losing again....

Re: Anyone pulling for Carolina the Win the Superbowl?

Absolutely. I'm less of a Peyton Manning fan than I am a Cam fan. I find it hard to fault Carolina for rolling through their schedule like a boss. We had the same relatively easy schedule and stunk it up.

Won't be buying a Koechly jersey, but the man plays lights-out defensive football.

I just hope it's a great game, regardless of who wins.

Re: Anyone pulling for Carolina the Win the Superbowl?

The Manning saturation on TV does get a bit much with Papa John crawling all over him. The Cam attitude is more than I can stomach . I'll respect a guy like Brees and most of the QB's in the league who are humble win or lose. But I would agree a close game down to the closing minutes is what I would like to see.

Absolutely. Dude has been a spoiled brat since I've known about him. Can't stand the guy.

What makes it worse is that the media tells me I'm a racist for not liking him.

Carolina has officially replaced the failclowns as my most hated team.

If Carolina doesn't win the Super Bowl, their season is a failure; how many 15-1 teams have lost the Super Bowl?

RaginCajun83 01-26-2016 12:15 PM

Re: Anyone pulling for Carolina the Win the Superbowl?

Sorry but nothing can replace the Falcons as being the most hated team, can't think of any 15-1 (98 Vikings, 2011 Packers didn't make it) but a 16-0 lost

Really? Because most of you remind me of 4th Grade boys who say they don't like a girl because she has cooties so you pick on her, but the truth is you really do like her. In this case, Cam Newton. There's threads dedicated to him left and right on a Saints forum. But hey, what do I know?

I think (but not sure) that Rez likes the hip-hop part of the Cam celebration dance. Since Rez is a hip-hop musician himself I'm thinking
he has an appreciation for it. Somehow I can't see Peyton Manning Dabbing in the end-zone.
On the flip side of all this Cam was not the pioneer of Dabbing.
See list:
September 13, 2015: Cincinnati Bengals running back Jeremy Hill dabbed during a game against the Oakland Raiders. Sports Illustrated asserts that this "appears to be" the "earliest football dab."
October 4, 2015: Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Carlos Dunlap dabbed.
October 5, 2015: Lebron James dabbed during a preseason game.
October 12, 2015: Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell performed a "double dab" during a game.
October 27, 2015: Lorenzo Cain of the Kansas City Royals dabbed after a stolen base during Game 1 of the World Series.
November 7, 2015: Clemson coach Dabo Swinney dabbed after a victory over Florida State.
10 January, 2016: Paul Pogba dabbed after scoring for Juventus against Unione Calcio Sampdoria in the Serie A.
12 January, 2016: Jesse Lingard dabbed after scoring for Manchester United against Newcastle United in the Premier League.
17 January, 2016: Luciano Narsingh dabbed after scoring the second goal for PSV Eindhoven against Feyenoord in the Eredivisie.
19 January, 2016: Victoria Azarenka dabbed after defeating Alison Van Uytvanck 6-0, 6-0 in the first round of the Australian Open.
24 January, 2016: Cam Newton dabbed after throwing a touchdown throw against the Arizona Cardinals.

I'm impressed that you found a list like that. That's good work. The dab is one of the many trend dances that come and go in our culture. The whip and nae nae were popular ones that have been over taken by the dab and folks. The lean with it rock with it was big when I was in high school. The cooking dance was done by a plethora of players, Mark Ingram included. I like everything about Cam except on the days he plays the Saints. He plays the game the way we played it growing up in our culture. Having fun. It's a game.

The truth is I really don't like him :) not as a player, not as a person. If you're talking 4th grade boys you need look no further than your boy cam as a perfect example. Actually that may be giving him more credit than he's due. I have a 5 year old son who displays more maturity than cam does. I don't begrudge him his fun, I agree that it's a game and should be played as such. It's the arrogance, the poor sportsmanship, the whining and the immaturity that I can't stomach. And I promise you I'd feel exactly the same way if it was Drew acting like that. I'd be disgusted and ashamed of him. I just can't stand people who act that way, regardless of their station in life. It's pathetic and deplorable.

Whatever though. You're certainly entitled to like whoever you wanna like. I don't mean to come off like I'm attacking you, I'm just tired of seeing stuff about the dude. He's f**king EVERYWHERE right now and it makes my skin crawl. I dunno why there are so many threads about him and/or the panthers. It'd suit me just fine if we never mentioned him or the team ever again.. but unfortunately I can't get away from it and my frustration has gotten to the boiling point..

Everyone, please.. let's stop this. No more talk about you know who or his stupid team. This isn't a panthers forum. To hell with them and everything to do with them. That is all.

You do realize if a white person would say something this stupid, they'd be branded a bigot/racist, don't you? You think playing for fun is unique to black culture?.

Cam crosses a line "having fun", any reasonable person knows that, and attempting to attach cultural significance to acting a fool in the endzone and tearing down opponent's signs is your lamest attempt at being the smartest guy in the room to date, IMO.

"Act like you been there" transcends all cultural lines and is good advice, I don't care who ya' are, ;).

... speaking off, not necessarily rooting (don't really care who wins), but curious to see, should the Panthers win, if they make any ado about Ron Rivera being La Raza. I remember the talk about the first African American coach winning a SB when Dungy's Colts and Lovie's Bears met in the SB, but nothing was said when Tom Flores won the SB, with a Hispanic QB to booth.

I gotta' disagree, it's one thing to express a differing opinion and quite another to interject support for a rival QB without elaborating, across several threads, knowing it'll gain a rise out of the board. I'm hoping Cam gets hit so hard he stands up and poses in the wrong direction.

Can't stand his childish antics, his taunting, his flopping, or his look at me I'm superman me-me unsportsmanlike brattitude.

If he were seriously injured, I might even laugh at his narcissistic cry baby ass.

Hes a tool and exemplifies everything wrong with NFL football.

He's probably the only player in the NFL that if traded to the saints would make me root against the black and gold.

I hope he gets his teeth kicked out on Sunday (or perhaps any other day as well)

Exactly, it's about "behavior" and nothing more. I tire of the Cam supporters and Cam himself trying to make it something bigger than it is. It's not unusual to see a black quarterback in this day & age and Cam ain't nothing new, ... I hope he realizes Doug Williams and Russell Simpson have both won SuperBowls and doesn't make the faux pas of thinking he's the first/special, ... of course, him & most his fans probably weren't born when Doug Williams broke that "barrier",.

Cam did an interview printed in the Wall Street Journal yesterday (Cam Newton Won't), I didn't read the whole thing because I ain't subscribing to WSJ for full access, where he tries to interject race into the whole thing. Absurd. People are not critical or "afraid" because he's a black quarterback, that's nothing new, people are critical because he frequently acts like an immature, privileged biotch in a professional sport and they're afraid of his running game, nothing more. It just cracks me up how guys like this try and take ya' back on race relations in this country by interjecting something into a situation that just isn't there, ... Yeah Cam, "it's because you're black",.

Don't forget another of my personal favorites... Warren Moon
And Randall Cunningham

His claims are insulting to those QB's that actually DID experience real hate.

RaginCajun83 01-28-2016 10:58 AM

Re: Anyone pulling for Carolina the Win the Superbowl?

Cam wishes he was as good as Cunningham when he was with the Eagles.

The national media today has the attention span and the laziness of a 5 year old and if they did their job with a little research, they would see Cam is not the first "black" QB to play in a Super Bowl. They are trying to make up a story for clicks. News Flash Cam: people don't hate you because your black, people hate you because you act like an immature punk that makes everything about yourself and that celebrates a first down like you have won the Super Bowl. When will these clowns realize it's not having fun, it's taunting

Yeah, I didn't even bother making a list because there's been so many black QB's in both the NFL & College ... mute argument, IMO. If it were the '40s, '50s, '60s & '70s, I could see the point, but them days are gone. Can't wait for Cam to write his autobiography, about his struggles growing up in a 2 parent, middle class household in suburban Atlanta, attending an appropriately funded high school that had enough books/educational aides for the students, an outstanding sports program, working bathrooms and was properly maintained. How despite being a stellar student (not), he was hardly recruited and unable to attend a decent college ... of his struggles to break race barriers and get drafted by an NFL team, yada, yada, yada,.

I tell ya', this new generation of civil rights guys miss the mark, IMO. Know what the real travesty in the NFL is? Kickers. When was the last time you seen a black man kick a p.a.t. or a field goal? That time the Lions trotted out Suh doesn't count, publicity stunt. When's the last time you seen a black man kick a punt? Always on the receiving end, #smh, I don't think they even got any brothers holding on field goals/extra points, #NFLkickerssowhite,. Somewhere out there, there's a kid who just won his local city punt/pass/kick competition, but knows because of the color of his skin, he'll never be considered as an NFL kicker and realize his life long dream ... that's the real travesty in the NFL, not the "black QB" debate,.

Re: Anyone pulling for Carolina the Win the Superbowl?

Cam doesn't know who Doug Williams is - and if he does he'd lie about it.

Anybody here actually believe what he said after the game about not knowing he was playing Denver in the Super Bowl?

Cam Newton is the very (quite literal) definition of narcissism. I want my son to watch him because Cam Newton is a living breathing full blown real life version of bad sportsmanship. He embodies what NOT to do. How NOT to act. He'll holler about respect but gives none in return and justifies that behavior by calling it 'fun'. Plenty of us see it, but he's got every right to do what he does when they shove the camera in his face and give him every opportunity.

For everybody giving rez a hard time, you have to recognize that ethos, and part of that is understanding there's no way on Earth YOU or ME will every affect any change. Cam will either (a) have an experience or three that teaches him the life lessons he's too young to know about just yet or (b) keep right on loving himself to a fault for the rest of his life.

And listen, I LOVED Deon Sanders growing up. Was a Braves fan. He had style. Still does. I don't always agree with him, and very often he's a bit too "I'm right, you're wrong", but I still like the guy. He truly was an amazing player, and he played hard (minus the tackling), and he made no apologies, and I'm okay with that. But there's a very big chasm between Sanders and Newton in my opinion. And by the way Rez, I'm comparing these players for having similar bravado, not their skin color. I'm happy to openly call Bozworth an idiot if that makes you feel any better.

Whether or not WE give these people any space in our brains is up to us. Ignore the rhetoric and have a better day. Vick. Cam. Those who openly defend these guys. All cut from the same cloth. It is our lot in life to tolerate people like this so the human mind can evolve.

I'm not kidding.
