Well... I guess we'll just disagree on this one. I get everything you're saying, but after watching hundreds of interviews with superbowl losing players, I haven't seen this before. I'd like to see a guy who's all about himself have a better showing when it matters. And I'm not talking about his on-field play. Answering questions in August doesn't change anything either. It's just part of their job.

He was obviously heavily invested in winning, and when you get that close and lose.... it obviously is hard to deal with. The media has this tendency to try to shape people, make them all respond the same exact way to the same exact things. It's really annoying.
The problem is he's not a high school QB anymore, is supposed to be some kind of professional and is past the "don't traumatize/stigmatize" stage of his adult development, #shrug. Let's not make excuses for him, enable his poor behavior and just call it what it is, #shrug. It's really not even about his poor decision and the fallout from it anymore, but how he will address it moving forward. Will he learn from it & grow up? Or will he continue to act like a spoiled brat? Only time will tell, . He made his bed, now he can lie in it ... all part of being a man/professional, #shrug.

Yes, approximately 49 QB's before Cam and countless other losing players have done it with class. What makes Cam so different? It's part of his job as a professional athlete, #shrug. He likes calling attention to himself when he's winning/successful, ad nauseum, you gotta' take the ups with the downs if you want to be considered a pro, #shrug.

It's an adult standard we all have to live by, fellas ... just sayin', .

Re: Really dislike Cam Newton but....

There is no excuse, no defense and no explaining away the way he behaved. The rest of his team (the guys he managed to throw under the bus before storming off) stood in and answered all the questions. You think they were any less disappointed or miserable than him? I read this morning that his offensive coordinator AND his position coach were BOTH in the room and were BOTH gesturing to him, trying to get him to take off the hood and take it like a man. He ignored them, just like my 3 year old does to me when she's upset about something, and stormed off. The difference between her and Cam is that if I tell her to knock it off, she does. She's pretty proficient with technology, maybe I can schedule some face time sessions between the two of them so she can impart some wisdom and maturity upon him.

Re: Really dislike Cam Newton but....

the real Cam was on display yesterday. By the third he was disgusted and appeared to have given up by the body language he had on the side lines and the field. He took a pounding and could not handle it. Saints MO for years was hit Cam soon and often to rattle his cage. Denver did just that.

now after the game he was a baby. media wants to defend it so be it. Does not change a thing. BABY

He came a lone way as a player but still has a long way to go to being a man.

Re: Really dislike Cam Newton but....

My last rant on Cam ...

Take the yoke of responsibility even in defeat. Remember how horribly Carson Palmer played against the Kittens 2 weeks ago? He faced the music & answered tough questions post game. By talking to the media, you (Cam) as a QB provide a shield to your team. Do what you must, do it with a square jaw. His press conference was a total of 2 minutes .

By walking off the way Cam did, he opened himself up to even more criticism.

Okay, never thought I would defend Cam, but... the main difference here is last year Russell Wilson lost a chance to "repeat" as a Superbowl Champion. No matter what happened in that game, he still had his ring. That's got to make it a little easier to swallow.

These guys work their whole lives for that moment and, I believe, are allowed to be in a crappy mood when they lose. Just my 2 cents.

Stick,

Remember those Buffalo Bills of the 90's?? Jim Kelly went to 4 Super Bowls ... 4. Lost every single one of em. I'm willing to bet you he never walked off the podium in the disgraceful manner Cam did.

You were outplayed by a better defensive ball club. You are the MVP of the league. All talent and very little heart. Take it like a man.

That's all folks .

I get that, but, this is a guy who is known for his enthusiasm when he is playing. A guy that passionate about winning is going to be that upset when he loses. It's his personality, you can't praise him for the joy he shows when he wins and then not expect him to show disappointment when he loses.

Oh well, agree to disagree, I guess.

I hear you brother but it's a lot easier to look like a leader when things are great.

If I may interject here, your statement goes against the grain of what most of us in here believe about him. It's the people who support Cam who are usually saying how his antics on the field are just passion. I see it as phony, and classless. There are lots of enthusiastic players, and people in the world. What he does goes beyond just enthusiasm, in my opinion.

Cam enjoys winning. His attitude when things go bad don't reflect a guy who's passionate about the game. Because you can be disappointed and still keep your head up and be a leader and turn the page. Cam has always been known as a pouter in bad games. This isn't something new with him. So we aren't praising him for his enthusiasm. That's the heart of the argument with him. His side will tell you he's just having fun, but the rest of us don't see it that way at all.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
