There are plenty of people who have come from much worse places than he did, who managed to grow up. He is who he is, not because of where he came from, but because of who he has chosen to be. He could do better if he wanted to. Wherever the heck he came from is not a valid excuse in my book.

At least Cam shook Paytons hand afterwards.

I know where you're coming from on the walking away from someone before saying anything you'll regret. I've both walked away, and said things I regret. I've learned along the way. I just see this as a different situation, where he isn't arguing with someone, he's being asked questions and couldn't manage to get through it. I didn't hear a question that sounded like an attack or anything. But again, it's also a cumulative thing with Cam. So many instances to draw from.

I don't disagree about Peyton. For the record, I am not a fan of Peyton or Eli. They tend to say the right things in their press conferences, but on the field they seem to always blame their mistakes on someone else. They throw an interception and immediately you see them demonstratively pointing at a certain player and telling him he should have done this or that. I'm sure there are times when they're right, but it's hard to believe that every pick is someone else's fault.

49 other WBs have lost Super Bowls; how many of them conducted their post-game interview like Cam did?

I get that he was upset! No one expected him to be rainbows and puppy dogs about it, but Cam is a grown man and he reacted like a spoiled child.

This situation reminds me of a couple dates where I wish I woulda fapped it before going out. That release of emotion clears your mind, calms you down, and lets you think about other things. Cam should have (mentally/emotionally) fapped with somebody before he went to his interview.

But I'm a little conflicted on how I feel with this one. Definite poor sport to not recognize and respect, and to outright discount, the people that just beat you. That's just super egotistical, one of the highest forms of sportsman disrespect, and a loser mentality.

But, as a super fierce competitive person myself, I can understand emotions taking over. We saw this guys massively big head POP on tv, then he had to parade his malformed, deflated, disfigured head into a press conference where he had to explain, "why aren't you good enough? And why aren't you as good as you are supposed to be? And You're Cam Newton, how in the world could somebody beat you?" That's really tough.

I'm not defending the actions, but I do understand them, and won't judge him. Sure it's easy to say what should be done in that situation and what we would have done, but we really have no idea what it's like to think like an already huge egoed, newly crowned NFL MVP Cam Newton, and have the biggest disappointment of our life just happen 10 minutes ago, then have one of the guys that beat you's answer to how they beat you blasting in your ear. Man, that sucks.

All I'm saying is, let's not judge because we can't understand his position.

I'm also really curious to see if/how he grows from this.

The essence of what you're saying is true. But it also speaks to the very point... He IS egotistical at this point. If he weren't, he might have handled it better. But he is, and he didn't. I don't want to know how it feels to be that full of myself and then lose. I don't like losing, and I don't like to gloat. He's saying "look at me" all year with his actions, and telling anyone who will listen that all his doubters fueled him, blah blah. When you do that you better have some answers when you fall flat on your face. That's all I'm saying.

We're all imperfect, and we all have to learn. This dude comes across as disingenuous, and pretentious. He talks and talks, and talks some more. Everything is sunshine and flowers, and then he completely changes. Most people come by their flaws a bit more honestly.
