NFL bans all chop blocks / other rule changes

It was a move met with immediate and resounding praise from defensive players tired of getting their legs cut out from underneath them. Offensive lineman, however, were less than enthused as the block was still legal in certain situations. Over the last few years, various changes to the rules have limited the scope on how players could use the technique. It was a valuable tool for offensive linemen coming from the weak side and could even out some speed discrepancies. However, the speed and target area of the blocks could lead to serious injury.

Very interesting. At first I hated the NFLs new concussion rules but I see that they are good rules that protect the player and do not destroy the game. It does change it. Hines Ward or Ronnie Lott would have been ejected from every game they played in. The only area I hate is how protected the QBs are. They should be treated like every other player. We are gonna continue to watch great QBs whose careeers will encompass three or four different generations of WRs and other teamates because they're not playing the same sport. RBs play 3 years on average. QBs are gonna have 15-20 year careers now. OOPS! Von Miller swiped for the ball and brushed Brees helmet with his hand. 15 yard penalty! Ridiculous. Of course Im against helmet to helmet targeting for everyone but the QB should be in the battle too.
