Dirk Koetter out as Bucs coach

After three trying seasons, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have relieved coach Dirk Koetter of his duties, the team announced Sunday.

Koetter finished his stint with Tampa Bay with a 19-29 record, going 5-11 this season, including Sunday's 34-32 loss to the Falcons.

"We sincerely appreciate the hard work and commitment shown by Dirk over the past several years," Buccaneers owner/co-chairman Joel Glazer said in a statement. "Working with Dirk has been a pleasure and we wish him and his family all the best in the future. Our search for a new head coach will begin immediately and will be conducted by General Manager Jason Licht."

Bucs revolving Coach's door, guess it's time to poach a young Assistant from
the ranks and do some re-building.

I like Bruce Arians. I like his personality, but mostly I like his quote, "No risk it, no biscuit." That's just a classic!

Vikings DC George Edwards is the current favorite to be the next Bucs HC. Hard to say if it would be a good hire or not as Zimmer is the one calling the plays for their defense.

Dirk Koetter is a damn fine coach - problem with the Bucs isn't HC, but QB...

Jason Licht and Bruce Arians could be together again in Tampa.

So long as Mike McCarthy stays out of the NFC South, I'm fine with these.

I don't see it that way at all. Dirk was a good coordinator but Head Coach ? .. not so much. Greg Schiano, Lovie Smith and now DK. The Glazers (owner) and GM are more to blame for their woes over the last few years.

Bruce Arians however is a proven HC coach & offensive innovator (see Steeler years) who could get the most out of Jameis. I hope BA turns down that job if an offer is made in Tampa.
