New Year's eve
 

I'm making the trip home from FL this weekend for a late Christmas visit with my family in Houma.
Any suggestions for good bars or clubs (in N.O.) to go to on New Year's eve?
I haven't heard much about what's re-opened since Katrina.

You have to go to the french quarter for midnight. They have a "ball drop" thing they do there a la New York at midnight and last time I went it was getting huge, but of course never as big as Times Square.

Then some bands play and they are always awesome.

Check out the Maple Leaf Bar where I'm sure the Rebirth Brass Band will play. Rebirth can be fun, but sometimes a disappointment. I've seen them for New Years eve and they put on a good show.

Where's everyone going for New Year's Eve?

I will be at my brothers house again to watch him get drunk, blow himself up and then have the cops come out and demand he stop blowing up the neighborhood with the fireworks. Then after that he repeats the same thing over and over and over and over and over again.

Christmas this year he said "The people of New Orleans will never abandon the city" about 1000 times. Each time he gets closer in your face, and closer and closer to where he's practically saying it in your eye.
