I am a Madden homer... been playing it since its inception. Enjoyed the glory days of the Sega Genesis, and currently love the dynasty as it appears on the PS2.

The question I pose to you all today is, should I give ESPN's 2K5 a try? Word is Sega's reducing the price to $19.99 (I can't provide a link due to the firewall here at work). This price is tempting me to give the competitor of my faithful companion a try.

I dunno. Is it worth it? Who out there plays the Sega version?

The prospect alone makes me feel as if I've slept with my best friend's wife... oh wait... hmmm...

Gotta go.

If you have Madden 2004 on the PC, I\'d be more than happy one night to hop online and give you a few lessons. :P

Dude, as soon as the price drops, I\'m gonna buy a copy of 04 for the PC just so I can take yo Nancy-rear to school. You\'ll think Black and Blue when I\'m finished with you.

You\'re goin\' down! :mad2:

Bring it on, buddy-boy, I\'ll take it easy on you, considering it must be tough to hold that controller with that limp wrist of yours.

We\'ll see what happens when the teacher becomes the student :o :P

Alright, Daniel-san, as soon as 05 is released, I\'m going to purchase a copy of 04 for the PC. I\'m gonna write your name on it. I won\'t even play the Saints. You can pick my team.

And I\'ll have you know I exercise my wrists daily to avoid limpage.... uh... nevermind. :red:

LOL- fair enough, and just to make things interesting, you can pick my team for me as well. And everyone (Best Buy, CompUSA, EBWorld) all have 2004 right now for $19.99, that is, unless you need to continue to hold onto that excuse. :D

EDIT: LOL- we got moved to the boards that nobody visits :P

Are we in trouble?

Here\'s a new review of the Xbox version of 2k5

http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox/775/ESPN-NFL-2005/p1

Madden is going to be the same game as last year. Try 2k4 (rent it), it was better than madden last year.

There would be no cobwebs if people would use this board. Here\'s your chance. :D

Was that a tumbleweed that just rolled by?

And until there\'s a PC port, I\'ll stick with Madden.

Shiite BNB, there\'s tumbleweeds in the regular forum, what you talkin\' about. It\'s like 20 people watching the paint dry in the General Board.

Hey what do ya\'ll think, should I delete this Everything Else forum?

Then there will be no way to post anything not Saints related on the entire board.

Maybe I\'ll do that... hmmm.... that would be kinda fun. Back to the old days of deleting posts and banning everyone.... just kidding.

Speaking of bannings, has anyone seen the elusive GumboBC?

I assumed he got banned for something that I didn\'t read.

EDIT: And no need to kill this area of the boards, I like to come here on occasion to clear my thoughts and for those times where I need a little \"alone time\".

No he disappeared. I thought someone else banned him too, but apparently not. It\'s been over a week. Rumor had it, some members were sending him hate mail via private message... but that\'s just a rumor.

You\'ll go blind doing that... or grow hair on your palms. :o

I sure hope the hate mail thing about BC is untrue. I enjoy having him around.

Halo, Thanks for the info on 2K4. I may just buy both Madden and ESPN this year. For only twenty bucks....

Heck, I\'m dropping twenty in order to give ole DarkandIndigo a tutorial in Azzwhoopenomics 101. :P

before i start on the games themselves, i have to say that the xbox versions of the games are better then the ps2 versions.. the graphics are better and the controls are much much more smooth and if you think that i am being biased, then i have to say that i have both an xbox and ps2 and they are just better on xbox. plus all EA sports games will be able to be played on xbox live...

while i love madden, im looking for espn football to be better this year than madden, but i will probably still buy madden and just rent espn to check it out... but if your looking for the best football game then i suggest ncaa football 2005, i love the ncaa series, the games play more like real football games, then madden or espn. as most of you guys know on madden, u have guys like troy hambrick breaking runs of 60 yards on your defense and its dumb, u hit them wit 4 or 5 guys an they break all the tackles. that is just aggrivating. On NCAA football players play like their ratings, plus 2005 was voted best sports game at the E3 convention just a month ago, over madden espn and all the other sports games.

here are some links to check out each of these games and their contents....

Thanks for the info, pak.

I agree that NCAA is awesome. I usually buy both the college and pro versions. The college version has more long term playabilty to me because I\'m ready for new rosters for the pro version when the NFL season begins.

The links you gave me just make me more conflicted. Both versions look improved. I\'ll probably buy Madden out of sheer loyalty and pick up ESPN cause it\'s cheap (I\'m a sucker for cheap in so many aspects of my life... I digress).

Thanks again.

both versions are defiently improved but i dont think that espn will be cheaper than madden, im sure both of them will be around 50 bucks

If you are refering to my wife, good sir, I\'ll have you know that she costs me money every day of my life. :casstet:

Btw, the weekend\'s getting closer. I\'m gonna try to get the game by Sunday, install it and figure out how to get online. I may pm you here if I have trouble.

Check your PM\'s- I sent you my email address.

I can also PM you my cell, if you want, and I can step you through online process, although you probably won\'t need it. I don\'t normally give that out, but I\'m kinda lax with it here, subguy has it, but he\'s only called it once, and plus, there are a few people here that I don\'t think would abuse it. If they did...well...I\'d just have to make a few calls in the area ;)

wow thats amazing, but i dont think that dropping the price to that level would stop anyone from buying madden, actually i think all it will do is make everyone buy their game in addition to buying madden with madden coming first since it comes out almost a week earlier. if they were looking to cut maddens sales, then i would have dropped the price to roughly 35-40 bucks but not all the way to 20, i think anyone would spend 20 bucks to get a brand new game, and all it would cost me for madden is 20 more bucks then its no big deal to me

ESPN NFL 2005 A Real Bargain?
According to online retailers, it\'s going to cost next to nothing

June 09, 2004 - Yesterday, Sega and Take-Two announced a partnership in which Take-Two would handle the publishing and distribution of all ESPN Videogames sports releases for the next few years. The idea was about creating lower-priced titles, but no one expected the prices to be this low. According to Gamestop.com and EBworld.com, ESPN NFL 2005 is set to ship in August for a mere $19.99. That\'s right, you get a full football game loaded with impressive features for the price of a budget title. That is, if the price is to be believed.

Sources at ESPN Videogames let us know that a final price has not been determined or announced. This means that the information could be erroneous, but it seems unlikely. Chances are, ESPN NFL 2005 will ship at the budgeted price of $19.95.

An official announcement and price are expected soon
