Press release: Crime up nearly one percent from January-June, but 6 percent drop in most recent quarter
 The New Orleans Police Department just released crime statistics for the first two quarters of the year, and from January to June, the city reports an increase of just under one percent in the seven major crime categories in 2012 from 2011.
