right now?

In my truck, I was listening to the new Eric Clapton CD, Me and Mr. Johnson, this morning.

Good stuff. No better way to start a Monday than with the blues.

Lately, I've had a strong rotation of Conway Twitty, Billy Joe Shaver, Lyle Lovett, and Gillian Welch's new album. I'm getting in touch with my inner redneck. :P

What about you guys?

Good call on Lyle Lovett. Never heard of Gillian Welch. I\'ve been looking into getting some Roy Clark.

The cd in my player right now is Mark Knopfler\'s \"Golden Heart\". Excellent album.

Like Lyle Lovett, another underrated artist is Chris Isaac. \"Forever Blue\" is in my top three of all time. The other two being Tom Petty\'s \"Wildflowers\" and the aforementioned \"Golden Heart\".

Great post.

Who\'s Gillian Welsh?

p.s. Didn\'t Billy Joe Shaver play quarterback for the Saints at one time?

Presently Bob Marley (disc one of a 3 cd import set), yesterday Beastie Boys \"In Sound from the Way Out\" and tomorrow Slater-Kinney (which is a small label band of three females from the pacific northwest who absolutely rock).

What about recommendations?

I recommend the album Since, by Richard Buckner.

Right now, Counting Crows greatest hits at the office, and Usher-Confessions in the car, can the 2 be any more different?

Hhmmm... Well, I think I\'ve got some matchbox 20 in the CD player right now. My musical taste covers a wide range. My favorite is classic rock: Boston, AC/DC, Zepplin, etc.. But, I like country music too. Both old and new: From George Jones to Tim McGraw. I like alternative music, \"real\" classical music. bluegrass. The only type of music I really can\'t get into is RAP!! Although, I do like a few rap artists: Emeinem.

Amen. You ever seen him in concert? Great show. I\'ve seen him here in Birmingham and in Atlanta. If you haven\'t, you should try some Robert Earle Keen or Billy Joe Shaver (not to be confused with Hobert/Tolliver). Both of these guys are major influences for Lyle. Shaver\'s been around for a while. Some of his songs are on Lovett\'s Step Inside this House cd.

Gillian Welch is a bluegrass artist. Some of her vocals were on the Oh Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack (she performs with Alison Krause and Emmylou Harris). Her vocals are not as pretty as Krause, but she has a raw flavor which I kinda prefer sometimes. If you wanna check her out, I suggest Revival (1996). Her newest album is great, too.

Roy Clark, eh? I hear ya, brother. Takes me back to watchin HeeHaw with my Granddaddy. I do have a Buck Owens cd. Tiger by the Tail... remember that one?

Concerts don\'t make their way up here in the arctic. I\'d love to see him in concert, though. The two musicians I\'d consider to fly anywhere to see play would be Dave Mathews Band and Peter Gabriel.

If Robert Earle Keen and Billy Joe Shaver (not to be confused with Hobert/Tolliver) :D are indeed influences of Lyle\'s then I\'m sure that they\'re good.

Roy Clark is known for banjo playing but the dude could flat out get it on the guitar.

kenpersons, I don\'t think that I\'ve ever heard of Richard Buckner. What style of music does he play?
