Michael Moore and his new movie

Michael Moore's movie, Fahrenheit 9/11 has been out for nearly a month now, and (I saw this coming from light years away) it's controversial. The media is going insane reporting and debating every angle and scene in the movie and how it will affect the election.

So, I'll ask you all the same questions that have been asked for nearly a month:

Is this movie legit or is it liberal propaganda?

How hard will it be for George W to overcome this attack?

How deeply will it affect the upcoming election?

Both
Depends
It won’t

Is it legit or liberal propaganda? There are 3 sides to every (political) story, the republicans, the democrats and the truth. These 3 different sides don’t have to be solely individual; they can encompass the same aspects. I am sure that many things in the movie may have been said or done, however are they publicized in the movie in the same context in which they were said? Michael Moore has made it obvious that he is against George W. and he will do anything in his power to undermine him. This is just one more way. However it should also be noted that George W. is pretty damn good and easy at poking fun at. He just “Brings it on.

It shouldn’t be too hard for him to overcome this attack. What is the voting percentage in the States anyways? Around 30%? A lot of these people vote Republican, because there Dad did, and there Grandpa did, ect. Or because they see that the Republican Party seems to represent the rich rather than the worker. Some of the middle class people would rather be seen as associated with the rich than the poor. Same can be said for the Democratic Party, except instead of being associated with the rich, they want to be associated with the social conscious). Summing it up, what I’m saying is, most people (especially the voting public) already have their opinions, and someone who is so outspoken against Bush will not change their opinions. (Warning, the above should be seen as a vague generalization of party’s, not necessarily the whole truth)

Again, this shouldn’t effect the upcoming election too much. The election is already going to be pretty close. Let’s just hope this one doesn’t come down to a state with family ties….
The biggest issue that this will cause is bringing out some of the dormant voters (rock the vote generation), and possibly making some of the Nader followers to change their vote to democrat.

I disagree with your assessment of why people vote republican. Sure, there are some that vote that way for the reasons you listed. But, I think the greater number of people that choose to vote for republicans do so because the republican party (1) believes in a strong military, (2) tends to hold, albiet loosely at imes, to a conservative set of moral principals, (3) believes in smaller government and fewer taxes, and (4) let\'s face it...having an elephant for symbol is much cooler than some measley donkey.

I don\'t know what the voter turn out was for the last presidential election, but if it was, in fact, only 30%, I am ashamed. We can do better than that.

I have found that voter turnout for the 2000 election was about 67% of registered voters and 50% of all possible voters. That\'s not too bad. I\'d rather it be 70% of the possible voters, but some are just lazy or disenfranchised.

How is voter turn out in Canada?

We just finished our federal elections and we had one of the lowest voter turn outs in history, it was 63%.

In regards to why people vote for which party, I was just touching on loose ideas, not true reasons.. However in regards to point #3, great in theory, however with the strength of unions, it is near imposible to downsize government agencies. At least that\'s what we experienced a couple years ago with our provincial elections.
#4, agreed... lol.... BTW, what\'s the symbol for Nader?? (I\'m sure I can come up with a couple ;) )

You know, really done up nice and classy.

Although this might actually be better for the Kerry campaign logo after the way he and Edwards ran and hid during the Marriage Amendment vote.

The third party candidate would win.
