Prolific indie rock pioneers Guided By Voices casually announced that their headline slot at the 2011 Hopscotch Music Festival in Raleigh, N.C. would be their last ? an announcement that seemed to fall on deaf ears, except mine. (I drove from New Orleans to Raleigh in one day, parked, walked to the front of the stage, watched the show, then immediately drove home.)
