Garret Graves to run for Louisiana 6th District Congressional seat



Garret Graves,*who recently resigned*as chairman of the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority (CPRA) and Gov. Bobby Jindal's "coastal czar," confirmed today he'll be running for the 6th District Congressional seat being vacated by Rep. Bill Cassidy.

in a statement announcing the decision, Graves said, "?We need to get the government out of our healthcare decisions, private communications, economic markets and daily lives. Government is increasingly part of our nation?s problem and it is not bringing forward solutions."

Graves' profile was raised during the 2010 BP oil disaster, and again last year when he emerged as Jindal's point men against an lawsuit brought by the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East (SLFPA-E) against oil and gas companies.

Several others have announced their intention to run for the 6th District seat, and a couple of high-profile others ? former Gov. Edwin Edwards and Family Research Council head Tony Perkins ? haven't ruled out doing so.? [ Read more ]
