This probably won\'t be taken well on this board, but I highly recommend leasing - especially now as dealers are trying to dump their 2004 stock. I dunno about other places, but in Chicago you can get a Jag for $300 a month. Drive a jag for 3 or 4 years while it\'s under warranty. Right when it starts to get to that point when it begins to have real trouble, you give it back and go get a new car. Jeep Grand Cheroke 4x4s are $289 I think. Check it out. Why buy something that will take you 5+ years to payoff and that loses almost all of it\'s value in that same period of time?

Leasing is good if the new car your buying is only a drive to work car. They have very limited mileage u have to abide by and screw u if u go over that. If u lease, make sure u have an option to buy, because more than likely u are going to go over the mileage allowed.

I\'ve never tried leasing a vehicle, largely because of the horror stories I\'ve heard about the troubles you can get into. The most common complaint, of course, being the mileage allowance.

A lease wouldn\'t really fit my needs, anyway. My job is about 25 miles away (one way), not to mention trips between work locations during the day sometimes. I\'d kill off all my lease mileage just for work and never get to enjoy the car!

I bought a 2003 Nissan Altima a year ago and am very pleased with it. I prefer Japanese over American, because I have had so much success with Toyotas before I bought this one. I would rather be patriotic and buy American, but have been burnt one too many times, so finances had to take priority. I recently bought an 05 Altima for my wife. I have had no problems whatsoever with either car, and think they look pretty good also. Just my $.02.

in the future you may want to get consumer\'s report on autos. they as well like the toyotas and hondas among others. they will list the yrs and models that best performed for those yrs as well as the clunkers you may want to steer clear of. i myself have purchased two cars off the internet through auto trader .com. just type in the yr , make , price etc and they will list cars available from 10 miles to anywhere in your area. i have bought one from dealer and one from individual, both great....sometimes you can get a great deal from dealers, but individuals usually have much better prices. for example, i bought a 2004 zx2 escort for my daughter with 6000 miles for 9,999.00 from a dealer in oklahoma and had it shipped for about 600.00 with the dealer picking up half the cost and full warranty for 36,000 miles. had i purchased a new one from the dealer, i would have paid about 4,000 more......both cars were rated by consumers report as best buys. for a late model car with warranty at a good price, i\'d search the dealers. cars such as the escorts are not highly sort after and can be had for good prices. without warranty, look for private sellers for good prices. good luck, smitty

I too say stay away from the Cavalier. I\'ve owned 2 Pontiac sunfires. My brother was in your boat and picked up an older 1990\'s Sunbird ( they ar now Sunfires ). They\'re easy and Cheap to fix because the parts are very accessible. Not very much goes wrong with them and they are good on gas.
I also had an olde Honda Prelude 1989 and it was very reliable but if you did need parts they\'re costly. Sorry if soem of this is repetitive I didn\'t read all the responses U got, Just a few.
