The finalists for the 2018 James Beard Awards (www.jamesbeard.org)*were announced Wednesday, and include nine New Orleans contenders.

Last month, the foundation released its list of semifinalists for this year's awards, considered the Oscars of the culinary and hospitality worlds.* Winners will be announced May 7 at the annual James Beard Awards Gala in Chicago.
