what do you prefer PS2 or Xbox?

i like Xbox but i dont like the Xbox controllers lets keep the controllers simple and go with PS2

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 08:27 AM

I have both, and will but both of the new systems. For sports games, PS2 all the way cause of the controller. Any game that is on both systems, Xbox cause of the graphics, although God of War had the best graphics I have ever seen for either system and it was on PS2.

papz 06-09-2005 08:50 AM

Couldn't agree more... speaking of Xbox, I need to get mines modded soon. So I can burn the new Madden on it when it comes out!

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 10:31 AM

I was gonna get mine modded, but then I heard you couldn't get on Xbox Live with a modded xbox, or that you had to take the chip out every time you wanted to. Too much hassle. Plus, isn't Xbox 360 supposed to come out this summer? Save the mod money and get that.

papz 06-09-2005 10:38 AM

You don't need a chip to mod an Xbox anymore. All you need is a hard drive that will probably only cost 45 dollars for an 80 gig. So you don't have to take out any chip and can get online at the same time. 8)

I don't think I'll be buying an new system anymore as long as they keep making games for Xbox... most importantly Madden. First Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega, Playstation, Dreamcast, Gamecube, PS2, Xbox, and now Xbox 360. Goodness I think I'm going to stop upgrading and stick with my Xbox and 2 grand computer. :|

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 11:33 AM

Then you are seriously gonna miss out dude. don't get left behind. Trade in your Xbox for some credit towards a 360. You DO NOT wanna miss the upgrades. It would be like having PS2 out, but still playing PS1 cause they make the same games and not buying a PS2. Totally unthinkable IMO.

papz 06-09-2005 11:37 AM

Gawd I hope I don't get talked into buying this 360 aHHHH! How much will this new system cost me? Can it really be much better than the regular Xbox? Will the make the FREAKING CONTROLLERS SMALLER!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?! :x Can I really trade in my Xbox for a decent amount of credit?

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 11:48 AM

If you trade in the Xbox when 360 is already out, you are probably only gonna get about $40 or less credit. WOn't be a lot. I can;t believe you have an Xbox and haven't been keeping up on 360. Let me find a link.

click on US, and enjoy.

papz 06-09-2005 12:11 PM

40 bucks... that's a joke. Might as well keep it.

Pretty cool site... the system looks very sleek, very nice. Suck the controller looks the same. I was hoping for something a bit smaller. It's going to run in the 300 range... so if I do decide to purchase one, I'll probably will wait til the price drops. But from this article I'm reading, Microsoft is taking a loss selling the 360 which is quite interesting.

"In an interview with TheStreet.com, Microsoft Corporate Vice President J. Allard said that the Xbox 360 would retail in the neighborhood of $300, although the final decision had not yet been made.
Microsoft’s current generation system, Xbox, launched for $299 in November of 2001. The system has went on to sell over 19 million units worldwide, keeping a distant second behind rival Sony’s Playstation 2.

The company recently debuted the new Xbox 360 at the 2005 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. The new system will include a three-core processor by IBM, 512 MB of Ram, and a custom video card by ATI.

Sony also debuted their next-generation system, the Playstation 3, and dazzled attendees with tech demos that instructed behavioral physics in artificial objects.

Nintendo is planning to release their new system, code-named Revolution, in 2006.

Next-generations consoles have not retailed for over the $299 mark since 1995, when Sony’s Playstation debuted. The $299 price tag is considered to be the highest consumers will pay for a new video game system. Consoles that have retailed beyond the $299 price tag have never achieved mass penetration into households.

Microsoft is expected to take a loss on the Xbox 360 and recoup with software sales. With the inclusion of a custom processor, graphics card, and a 20GB hard drive, the Xbox 360 could still retail for as high as $349. The company has sunk over $2 billion to establish the Xbox brand in the video game market.

Allard said that the company would make a final decision on the price of the new Xbox 360 in about two months. The Xbox 360 is expected to launch in November 2005."

"QUOTE (Manning @ May 30 2005, 05:08 PM)
Well I am saving up 400 bucks, at least. I have 300 put away now. I want to get the System, extra controller and 2 games at launch.

You'll need a lot more than 400...

System: Probably $350
Extra Controller: Probably $40
2 Games: $120

Total: $510+tax"

I'd have to work 25 hours for all that. Did I mention I like staying at home more?!

Man I hope you can burn games onto the system or somehow rig the Xbox to turn into one of these. Won't be as pretty but if it could cut the cost by a hundred, I'll take an ugly cheaper rigged one.

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 01:38 PM

It'll be worth it. Besides, when I bought my Xbox when they were going for $249, I got mine off E-Bay for $160. Never had a problem with it ever and it came with a game. You can always find a deal. I am gonna het the PS3 as well. The Nintendo Revolution could be nice cause you can download ALL the old Nintendo games for every nintendo game system, all the way back to the first one. I heard they were gonna charge like $6-$8 per download though so that will probably steer me away. PS3 and 360 will be more than enough.

newshound 06-09-2005 02:19 PM

I don't know, I converted to Xbox from PS2. I didn't like the original controller but that disappeared quickly. I don't even use the PS2 anymore. Xbox has no memory cards... I thought a hard drive on a console was supposed to be a joke according to Sony when the Xbox came out, now look everyone wants a hard drive on their console. Go figure.

PS2 is fun, but I don't think there is any game on the system that can top Halo, Halo2, Cronicles of Riddick for graphics. The controller is the same as the PS2 and I've gotten to where I can't play with anything else.

I saw 360, all I can say is WOW. And it's backwards compatable too.

What has anyone heard about the PS3 or "Revolution"?

I think both we're caught with their pants down fighting each other over handheld games and Microsoft slipped in a fast one with 360. I think it's only a matter of time for Nintendo friends.

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 02:30 PM

newshound, play God of War on PS2, then get back to me on graphics. Best graphics I have ever seen for either system, hands down. And one of the best games ever. xbox does have memory cards, you jusy use them to transport date to a friends house or such. I bought the hard drive for PS2 and I have to say that was a HUGE waste. It's practically useless. I thought it would allow me to save games like Xbox. Uh uh. That was a waste.

Halo 2 is only good for online. The campaign is crap. And I think GTA, Gran Turismo, God of War can give those games a huge run for their money.

PS3 is being released in 2006 for a specific reason: Microsoft outdid PS2 by coming out second, and Sony will not repeat that mistake. they could have pushed it out around the same time or sooner, but they didn't wanna repeat that error. Trust me, they were not caught anywhere near with their pants down. And the nintendo Revolution has the capability of downloading EVERY Ninetendo game ever made. That will push its sales as well. Sony knew what it was doing releasing after Xbox, and it was smart on their part. With the announcements of the featuers the PS3 will have, They will have no problem at all competing.

papz 06-09-2005 02:31 PM

Goodness I read stuff on the Revolution and the cost of it will exceed 400 or so. That's ridiculous. You can download all the Nintendo games onto an Xbox off the net for free. Contra, Bubble Bobble, Double Dragon, all that old school stuff... my brother in law has thousands of Nintendo games on his modded one.

I agree on the memory card stuff... it was such a hassle.

I can't stop staring at how the 360 looks... it's so pretty.

Dang sw, the 360 and the PS3?! You big baller you.

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 02:45 PM

I can't NOT have both. At this point, it is an impossibility. With God of War 2 scheduled for PS3 and Halo 3 scheduled for 360, I gotta have them both. My wife will be pissed, but oh well. I think she would prefer I have them than her being divorced.

But the Xbox 360 does look bad ass, and the controller is a little smaller, and not only that, but all controllers will be wireless, for all the next gen systems. That is just off da chain.

Here are some pics of the PS3: http://media.ps3.ign.com/articles/61...19/imgs_1.html

Look at that controller. They both look sweet.

Whodi, I loved Grand Turisimo, but you have to play this game Forza. I think Playstation did get caught with their pants down on this one. It really is better than GT. Rent it and give it a try.

I heard God of War was awesome, I will rent it this weekend and check it out.

For Xbox you should try this game Chronicles of Riddick. The graphics were better than Halo- unreal.

Yeah but you have to pay to download the games. A buddy of mine is a big Nintendo fanboy and he thought he would be able to plug his N64 games into it. Then he found out it was download, the he showed me an article where you have to pay for the downloads.

I agree with Papz, I don't love Nintendo enough to buy anything of theirs, but get a good mod chip and get the games downloaded to your Xbox hard drive.

papz 06-09-2005 02:51 PM

LMAO sw...

Man Halo is so hard to play on a controller... I rather play those types of games on the computer. I'm pretty good at Counter-Strike, COD... games of that nature. Maybe I just have given Halo a chance...

PS3 doesn't look too bad... but the 360 looks much better imo.

newshound 06-09-2005 02:52 PM

We need a game forum on here! Who do I talk to.

papz 06-09-2005 02:55 PM

Don't even need a mod chip to mod an Xbox now... all need to do is buy another hard drive. I don't know exactly how to do it, but my friend does it. 45 for another hard drive... while the chip cost 60 dollars.

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 03:22 PM

Duplicate.

saintswhodi 06-09-2005 03:23 PM

I was gonna try that Forza newshound. but I hate having to do all the specs for cars liek adjusting the drag and such. I just wanna buy a car, throw on some tired maybe an engine tune up and race. But I know forza is a good game.

You are talking to the wrong guy on Chronicles of Riddick. I bought it and beat it the first week it was out. I thought it was one of the better Xbox games of last year. It's not better than God of War though. god of War is an experience more than it is just a game. Just a phenomenal piece of software. Everyone I have praised it to on this other forum I visit loves it. I am one of those guys that tries games the first day they come out so I can report on them. Nerds I think they call us. lol

Oh and like I said, I am not gonna buy the Ninetendo, but I see why people would.

BlackandBlue 06-10-2005 05:20 PM

Xbox 360? We sell these now. It's called an "Entertainment PC". I've got 10 in the back ;)

AllSaints 06-10-2005 08:45 PM
