Chef Alon Shaya signs his new cookbook Shaya at a happy hour March 13 at Compere Lapin (535 Tchoupitoulas St., 504-599-2219).

The party, presented by Garden District Book Shop, is the official release date for Shaya: An Odyssey of Food, My Journey Back to Israel ($35).
