Trent Green to visit
(by WhoDatQB, published Tuesday, March 04, 2008)
GREEN VISITS WITH SAINTS
Quarterback Trent Green recently announced that he has been medically cleared to play again.
And now he has taken his first offseason visit.
According to the AP, Green dropped in on the Saints on Monday.
The current starter in New Orleans is Drew Brees, and Green would definitely be a backup there. But maybe that's a better situation for Green than risking his melon on every single play.
The Saints also have re-signed receiver David Patten to a two-year deal.

McFadden Anyone?
(by foreverfan, published Tuesday, March 04, 2008)
Let's face it, Deuce isn't going to be the same at his age coming back from 2 knee surgeries. At best he will be ready for mid season. So our offense is mediocre instead of dominating.
How much would you be willing to trade up? Consider this....
McFadden would make us the most feared offensive team in the league. Anybody that thinks a revamped defense is going to carry this team to the Superbowl is nuts. Offense is what drives the New Orleans Saints. By drafting McFadden we are assured of having one of the best offenses in the league if not the best. We would be stupid scary on one side of the field. Brees, Bush, Colston... would instantly be better by drafting McFadden. We could dictate to the defense again.
We have already upgrade our defense and I think we will continue to upgrade it in the draft. But you don't need a great defense... consider:
The Saints play a defense that is feast or famine. They try to make you have a bunch of 3 and outs or score quick with tight man to man coverage. This results in the Saints offense being on the field most of the time. This eventually wears a defense down in the 4th quarter or we will over run teams who's offense doesn't match up. Unfortunally, the weather is great equalizer as we found out in Chicago. Again, McFadden may be the key here to because without being able to run the football consistantly, you don't win in Chicago, Green Bay or New York.
I'm not suggesting that we mortgage the farm but if he falls to us or if we have to move up 1 to 2 spots to get him, it may pay the GREATEST DIVIDENDS by having the most dominate offense in the NFC again.

After the Free Agency Frenzy
(by tiggerpolice, published Tuesday, March 04, 2008)
NFL players don't always get a quality second (or third) chance. That wasn't the case for these guys.
1. Like Travis Henry in Denver last year, Keary Colbert is getting a dream opportunity to put up numbers. Let's hope Colbert doesn't celebrate by testing positive on every drug and paternity test he takes this summer.
Expect Denver to find more competition for Colbert than Brandon Stokley, but he's the favorite for now to start opposite Brandon Marshall.
2. Devery Henderson is getting one more chance to disappoint the New Orleans Saints. If he can't get it done in that offense, he's not going to elsewhere.
3. Donte Stallworth is on his fourth team in as many years, which is usually a bad sign. But Cleveland is an ideal fit because of Derek Anderson's deep ball and the weapons around Stallworth. He works best as a complementary part, and will be the third option on most plays. Look for a bump from his New England numbers, but he's not going to be a 1,000-yard receiver.
4. The odds are against Brian Griese ever mattering to fantasy leaguers again. But if it's going to happen, it's going to happen with Jon Gruden.
This Week in Jason David
Last year, the Saints signed a marginal cornerback with championship experience, and then shoehorned him into a system that didn't fit his skills. That didn't work out so well, but it did become a weekly segment in The Morning After .
After learning from the experience, this year the Saints signed a marginal cornerback with championship experience, and will try to shoehorn him into a new system that exposes his flaws. Randall Gay will only be a decent signing if the Saints expect him to come off the bench.
Crickets
D.J. Hackett's price tag and durability questions are scaring away potential suitors. He's expected to talk to the Titans and possibly Redskins this week, but he may have to lower his contract demands.
Bad Tidings
Detroit and New Orleans have been actively looking for running backs in the free agent market. That doesn't bode well for Kevin Jones and Deuce McAllister's status heading into next year. The Saints re-signed Aaron Stecker, possibly setting up a release of McAllister in the summer. The Bucs also have been active, indicating that they want more options behind Earnest Graham.

Favre Retires
(by foreverfan, published Tuesday, March 04, 2008)
The most storied quarterback career in NFL history is coming to a close.
The Green Bay Packers have confirmed a story first reported by FOXSports.com that Brett Favre, the NFL's all-time career passing leader, has decided to retire.
"Brett Favre has informed us of his intention to retire from the Green Bay Packers and the NFL," Packers GM Ted Thompson said in a statement released by the team. "He has had one of the greatest careers in the history of the National Football League, and he is able to walk away from the game on his own terms — not many players are able to do that.
"The Packers owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude. He has given Packers fans 16 years of wonderful memories, a Super Bowl championship among them, that will live on forever. ... The uniqueness of Brett Favre — his personality, charisma and love of the game — undoubtedly will leave him as one of the enduring figures in NFL history."

Michael Lehan
(by Bobaganoosh, published Tuesday, March 04, 2008)
I was just driving to lunch and i think i heard someone say that the Saints agreed to terms with Michael Lehan. I know he is a CB and he has bounced around the league a bit but i want to say he was with the dolphins last year.
My guess is he will go to camp and fight with Craft to make the team.
