Hornets beat Raptors 118-111

Two days after Chris Paul and David West had uncharacteristic performances in Boston, they put on their usual show and reached a milestone.

Paul led the way with his conducting and West with his constant production as the Hornets beat the Toronto Raptors 118-111 before a sellout crowd of 19,800 at the Air Canada Centre on Sunday night. The victory gave the Hornets their first 50-win season since the 1997-98 season in Charlotte.

"It's huge for us," West said. "I don't know if many people expected us to be where we are. We feel good about it. But we're not settling for just 50. We understand where we are and we're trying to win the West, trying to make sure we can seal up the Southwest Division."

New Orleans used an 18-2 run in the third quarter to put away the Raptors (37-36), just two days after a poor third-quarter performance doomed the Hornets against the Celtics. The Hornets were 36-2 in contests where they scored 100 or more points before Sunday's game, and against the Raptors, they already led 101-79 after three quarters.

West finished with 32 points and seven rebounds, while Paul had 20 points, 16 assists and six rebounds.
