Anthony Davis Injury: Updates on Pelicans Star's Foot and Return

Latest on Davis' Playing Status

Tuesday, March 1

Brett Dawson of the Advocate reported Davis is "good to go" against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday.

Davis Critical to Pelicans' Success

It would've been a devastating blow for the Pelicans if Davis missed extended time, especially since the team got off to a slow start and has struggled to establish consistency after making the playoffs last season.

As for Davis, he already suffered a hip injury, back injury and concussion earlier in the campaign, and the 68 games he played in 2014-15 were a career high for a player who has continuously dealt with physical setbacks.

When healthy, the three-time All-Star is one of the best players in the league. He earned first-team All-NBA honors after averaging 24.4 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per contest last year and is posting 24.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game in 2015-16.

Davis is an elite rim-protector who anchors the Pelicans defense and a formidable offensive playmaker who can score down low, attack off the dribble and hit from mid-range.

The Pelicans don’t have anyone who can match Davis’ overall skill set, but they do have a couple of pieces to fill the void should Davis be forced to the sidelines again.

Ryan Anderson is a matchup problem for opposing defenses because of his ability to drill three-point shots and force bigs away from the rim. Omer Asik is an elite rebounder and double-double threat every time he takes the floor.
