Eric Gordon Injury: Updates on Pelicans Guard's Finger and Return

Gordon Re-Injures Finger

Saturday, March 5

The Pelicans announced Gordon's injured finger is the same finger that sidelined him for 16 consecutive games earlier this season.

Gordon, 27, is averaging 15.4 points, 2.7 assists and one steal per game for the Pelicans this season. But injuries have again derailed the talented guard.

Indeed, injuries have been the story of Gordon's career. In the three seasons leading up to this year, Gordon missed a total of 79 games.

When healthy, Gordon is a reliable scorer for New Orleans and takes pressure off Anthony Davis on the offensive end, giving the Pelicans a balanced attack behind Davis. But his inability to stay healthy this year has played a major part in the Pelicans' disappointing 2015-16 campaign after reaching the postseason last year.

Indeed, the Pelicans have struggled to keep any of their guards healthy. Fellow guards Tyreke Evans and Bryce Dejean-Jones, along with swingman Quincy Pondexter, have already been lost for the season, leaving the team thin at the position.

Thus, Norris Cole and Jrue Holiday will each be shouldering an even larger load of minutes for the team with Gordon once again sidelined.
