Jrue Holiday Injury: Updates on Pelicans Star's Eye Fracture and Recovery

The New Orleans Pelicans' nightmare season can't end soon enough, as star point guard Jrue Holiday has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with an eye fracture.

Continue for updates.

Holiday's Injury Details Revealed

Tuesday, March 29

The Pelicans announced that the eye injury is a fracture to his right inferior orbital wall.

Even though the Pelicans have been a disappointment this season, Holiday has been one of the few bright spots. He's third on the team in scoring, second in assists and first in steals, per Basketball-Reference.com.

In 65 games this season, Holiday averaged 16.8 points, six assists and three rebounds while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor.

The Pelicans have already lost Anthony Davis for the season due to knee and shoulder injuries, with the former problem requiring surgery. New Orleans has been in the Southwest Division cellar virtually all year, so nothing significant was lost from Davis being shut down.

Holiday's absence only compounds problems for the Pelicans, who can spend the offseason trying to figure out what went wrong this year and how to get back in the playoff mix next season.
