Maciej Lampe’s lay up with 5:16 left in the third quarter sparked a 12-0 New Orleans Hornets run, giving the Hornets the lead for good as they cruised to a 84-67 win over the New Jersey Nets.

The Hornets trailed at halftime 31-39, but went on to outscore the Nets in the third (30-13) and fourth (23-15) quarters. New Jersey shot 48 percent (14-29 FG) in the first half.

J.R. Smith led the Hornets with 16 points (6-13 FG), while Lampe had 15 points (6-10 FG) and five rebounds. David West chipped in 14 points (5-7 FG) and seven rebounds in the win. Rookie Chris Paul struggled from the floor (0-8 FG), but was very active on the floor collecting seven rebounds and four assists.

New Orleans shot 44 percent (28-64 FG) for the game and out scored the Nets 42-28 in the paint.

Rookie Antoine Wright continued his nice shooting touch as he collected 22 points (8-17 FG). Sam Clancy had 19 points and seven rebounds.

New Jersey shot 42 percent (25-59 FG) for the game.

Lampe has been very impressive this summer. He should contribute on the offensive end for us. There was a reason why he was considered a lottery pick a year ago. If it wasn't for the buyout concerns teams were having with his team overseas, there would be no way that he would have been there in the second round for the Knicks.

Chris Paul has been struggling and only had 1 good game this summer. There has been talk about him having a wrist injury and that is the reason why he's playing so poorly. Hopefully if this is really true, he'll heal fast and be able to lead our young promising team. Out of the top 4 draft picks, only Bogut has played well this summer. Everyone else has been stinking it up.

J.R. Smith is toying with competition this summer. He scores at will but is trying to improve other aspects of his game that is why he's not taking a bundle of the shots. He played great as a rookie last year and he will only get better... a star in the making here folks. 8)

Here is a site to keep up with summer league basketball... draftexpress.com. Very nice site with analysis of every game and the players that played.
