'2016 -- Obama's America' -- why is the media so afraid of this movie?

If you thought being one of the producers of one of the greatest anti-hate films in history, one that exposed hatred, bigotry and anti-semitism would make you immune from being labeled a hate monger, think again. "Schindlers List" left its mark on the world and did so by telling the truth about man’s inhumanity to men. Yet the slings and arrows came at me to impinge my credibility, the work of Dinesh D’Souza and to once again use hate as their passport to the dark side.
Is there anyone else out there who sometimes finds movie reviews lacking in substance and objectivity? How about a film “review” written by an online journal prior to them even viewing the film? Does that sound like the classic cart before the horse scenario? Anyone else smell something dishonest, partisan and maybe even cynical? That kind of effort can only be suspect in its mission and intent.
I speak of an online journal writing an attack piece on my latest film, ‘2016 – Obama’s America’. It labeled the film, “Feature Length Obama Hate.” Nice. And they hadn’t even seen the film.
That kind of action has to come from pure chutzpah, ideology or just plain stupidity, you can pick.
It seems the left in America can only define something they don’t understand, something that frightens them, something so truthful it hurts or something they have no real response to that leaves them grasping for any kind of answer that comes with the hope that maybe it will just go away…and if it doesn’t, do all possible to destroy it.

Anti-Obama Pic #2 Political Documentary: Now Bigger Than 3 Michael Moore Movies


It’s a heated contest between conservatives vs liberals in the political documentary genre, too. 2016 Obama’s America grossed $26.2M by end of today (give or take some bucks) and passed 4 of Michael Moore’s five political documentaries to become the #2 all-time biggest. Only Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11, his highly critical examination of the first term of President George W Bush, retains the #1 position with $119.1M. It’s extremely unlikely that 2016 Obama’s America will make even half that. But it now has made more money (not adjusted for inflation or higher ticket prices) than Moore’s Sicko (2007 – $24.5M), Oscar-winner Bowling For Columbine (2002 – $21.5M), and Capitalism: A Love Story (2009 – $14.3M). The right-wing doc 2016 Obama’s America is produced by Gerald R. Molen who in fact credits “learning some lessons” from Moore. “When he released Fahrenheit 9/11 in 2004 ahead of the election, it sparked intense debate.” 2016 Obama’s America also has passed the box office for Al Gore’s and Davis Guggenheim’s An Inconvenient Truth (2006 – $24.1M) and is the #1 biggest-grossing conservative political docu ever (besting Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed’s $7.7M).
The Rocky Mountain Pictures film benefitted from the runup to the Republican National Convention. Now the anti-Obama film is hot in 2012′s battleground states where GOP candidate Mitt Romney and President Obama are campaigning the heaviest: Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Virginia, Georgia, Illinois, Arizona. (California and New York and Texas also are listed in the Top 10 states contributing the most gross dollars to the documentary’s box office.)
Based on conservative author Dinesh D’Souza’s 2010 best-selling book The Roots Of Obama’s Rage, it initially opened in only one theater in Houston on July 13th, then expanded to 1,000+ theaters and now 2,000+ locations. by Friday. 2016 Obama’s America is co-directed by D’Souza and John Sullivan and produced by Academy Award winner Gerald R. Molen (co-producer of Schindler’s List). 2016 Obama’s America detractors decry it as a slick infomercial heavy with conspiracy theories. But D’Souza says he made the film to motivate moviegoers to question what an Obama second term would look like.
Its success was aided by savvy marketing: exhibitors were reporting busloads arriving at theaters around the country in pre-organized trips. It also employed much of the same selling techniques used to garner attention and support for faith-based films, understandable since the audience is overlapping. Its campaign included advertising nationally on talk radio and cable news channels including Fox News Channel, A&E, History and MSNBC.

The interesting part is how the left mischaracterizes it, not that it is entirely shocking. Documentaries are supposed to be factual by their very definition. This film actual is, unlike the Moore films which interjected numerous fabrications.

They are finally showing this out here in the East Bay, but only in Select theaters. I saw it was playing in Berkeley but I didn't want to go see it there for fear of being shot.

This film started here in Houston out of one theatre. All of the proceeds go toward financing additional viewings in additional theatres. There is evidently a kind of monopoly with movie distribution companies which are leftist controlled. They tried all their might to suppress the release of this film for obvious reasons. Isn't America Great?

'2016' Co-Director Dinesh D'Souza: 'How I Earned Obama's Rage'

It’s not every day that a guy provokes the rage of the President of the United States.

Now the President has launched a ferocious attack against me and my film "2016: Obama’s America." Posting his comments on barackobama.com, Obama calls the film “an insidious attempt to dishonestly smear” him by engaging in “subterranean conspiracy theories and false, partisan attacks.”

For weeks the President tried to ignore the film, no doubt hoping that it would go away. Unfortunately for Obama, the film has continued to gain momentum. It has been seen by more than 2 million people, earned more than $27 million, and become the second biggest political documentary of all time.

So now he has decided to come out with guns blazing. Yet what a clumsy, ill-aimed and misleading blast this is. It begins with a quotation deploring “smear journalism.” We read that this quotation is from the “Columbia Journalism Review on "2016: Obama’s America.” Yet the Columbia Journalism Review article was published in September 2010, nearly two years before the film came out! It turns out that the magazine was critiquing one of my earlier books. "The Roots of Obama’s Rage."

Apparently relying on a range of left-wing discredited sources, Obama lists what it takes to be four “flat-out falsehoods.” Let me list and address them in turn.

>> D’Souza falsely claimed that President Obama said he didn’t believe in American exceptionalism.” Oh really? Obama was asked in 2009 whether he believed in American exceptionalism. He replied that he did, just as the Brits believe in British exceptionalism and the Greeks in Greek exceptionalism. The clear implication of Obama’s remarks is that if everyone thinks they are exceptional, no one really is.

>> “D’Souza falsely asserted that President Obama funded $2 billion in Brazilian oil exploration.” The Obama team claims that Obama had “nothing to do with the loan.” Well, the undisputed fact is that the Export-Import Bank awarded more than $2 billion in loans and loan guarantees to Brazil. The Export-Import Bank is a U.S. government agency and policy for the agency is set by the Obama administration. So how can the Obama administration escape responsibility for its own policies?

Moreover, we know that Obama himself approves of the policy. In 2011, Obama went to Brazil, a country where, as he put it, “the legacy of colonialism is still fresh.” There, on March 19, 2011, he reminded the Brazilians of American support for Brazilian oil exploration, and added, “We want to help with technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely, and when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.”
