Yeah. You know the same is true on the other side too unfortunately. As a whole Americans just aren't too sharp - and I know that's a terrible thing to say, but ask around when you vote this fall. When it comes to politics and who's doing and saying what, people are just ignorant.

very true...but our political system is to blame, really. when you have only 2 real parties, it can't help but create POLAR beliefs and anything too far to either side is just too damn much - hence why the "lesser of 2 evils" issue all the time.

I don't see this the way many do. It bothers me greatly that these people - kind and decent and generous as they may (or may not) be, are actually allowed to vote.

Our public school system is a mess - and I am happy to debate the reasons for that should someone want to start that thread, however, while politics is extremely complicated, it doesn't take much to:

a) educate yourself on how the government works
b) take the time to listen for and to seek out the truth, or at least listen to the other side before blindly assuming one side or the other is preaching the truth

Not one of those people in that video can say they have done either. If the schools refuse to teach it, buy a book, browse the internet in your free time at home, go to the library, or ask a friend to help you understand our system of Government.

While Voter ID laws are causing so much drama, I'd take a great leap beyond that and require anyone seeking to vote must pass a basic competency test on our system of Government - no different than getting a driver's license, and if you want an exemption then you serve in the military for 4 years.

Oh my God if I were in charge they'd hang me from the tallest tree even for suggesting it, but as this video demonstrates, it is sorely needed.

Bill Maher is 1 for a Gazillion, but the one he got right is a BIG one.
