The 1% and the 47%

Re: The 1% and the 47%
Let me ask you guys this, without starting a big argument ... how do the Democrats feel about Pres. Obama having a lower tax rate then his secretary and why isn't he lumped in there with Romney & the 1% when raising this issue?
I would think that by pointing this out and Obama calling for change in the tax codes that would directly impact him & the 1%, it would make a huge statement to the American taxpayer and show just how serious the Dems are. As it is, when I see them raising an issue, focusing on only one side of the issue and not really addressing any resolution to the issue, it leaves me blank ... the Repubs do it too, but honestly, it seems to be SOP more with the Dems, or maybe the Repubs just give them more to work with,. |
Re: The 1% and the 47%
What's more puzzling to me is how so many Republicans, most of whom are included in the 47% their hero spoke of, will continually vote against their own self interests. Isn't the whole point of electing someone to be your representive being that they will fight for you and represent your wishes and interests? Most of those in Washington does EXACTLY the opposite. And they do so with the full knowledge that a guaranteed 45% of Americans are going to vote for them regardless of what they do. If it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

Re: The 1% and the 47%
Thanks for not answering my question. I voted third party last election and I'll probably do so again because I really don't see that big of a difference between Romney/Obama and I know neither one necessarily represents me or my interests.
I'm out. |

But you make a good point. I don't know if it's just because they are completely inept as a party or if they reason that picking up that rock and throwing it back at the Democrats brings them down to that level. I honestly don't know but I wonder the same thing. You know - if we could do it all over again, wouldn't the tax code have been the better place to start? Seems to me the health care stuff should have been a secondary project, but since those changes don't truly affect our politicians - and since we know an improved tax code surely would - I guess I have my answer... |
