Re: Costco's Profit Soars To $537 Million Just Days After CEO Endorses Minimum Wage Increase
In that respect, yes. I agree with a flat-tax for all income, capital gains etc. Corporations should also be taxed at the same rate.
That would be the best way to make taxes entirely progressive. It'll never pass any Congress: Republican, Democrat, or Independent. |

None of my list is poisonous and there is a difference between removing poisonous lead and adding corrosive ethanol.

Pay everyone a living wage, especially enough to not qualify for any government assistance, LOTS of problems solved. Less drain on the government, more tax revenue going to the government. Wins all around.

1. Jobs would have to be created in the private sector. Which could quite easily be done but our government has no desire to enforce immigration laws on illegals working for cash. (They want to be reelected). 2. Forcing global health care to be given to the non working and everyone that works part time is a large part of a businesses payroll overhead. This BS about government being the largest job provider is what is known as financial cannibalism. Example: Bob (private sector) made $1 and paid .45 in taxes last year. Jim (government worker) made .45 last year and paid .17 in taxes. Paul is a part time employee at the DMV and made .17 last year and paid no taxes. How much in taxes does the government have to spend on anything? Answer is 0.00 If all of those jobs were privatized the government would have .62 in tax money to spend on what ever it wishes. I didn't count Paul as he had a Government job. The ONLY government agency that i can think of that sells a service or a product to the private sector is the USPS. And they are complaining they can not compete and threatening to end Saturday mail. The government is so horrible at everything it does no one wants to shop there generally because government workers hardly get fired and are a nightmare to deal with. Private sector businesses that compete with the Gov are grossly more efficient. |

Re: Costco's Profit Soars To $537 Million Just Days After CEO Endorses Minimum Wage Increase
Government agencies don't sell services with the intent to make profits, they provide them and that is the problem. There is no incentive to do better, work harder, work smarter. That's why when Obamacare went through I hung my head in shame. They can't even take care of Veterans in a timely manner so what do you think is in store for everyone else. . I had a friend on the Military TriCare who could not get his meds at a CVS because CVS said they could never get paid so they refused to fill the order. There are already articles about the massive amount of paperwork involved with Obamacare. Nothing but a mess.

Re: Costco's Profit Soars To $537 Million Just Days After CEO Endorses Minimum Wage Increase
Not so sure I would say "provide", more like require. Its akin to a union scratch that.. a mafia with out the protection.
If you want to drive - See the government. If you want to get a record of your own birth - see the Government. Want to start your own business - See the Government and pay a fee + taxes. Want to leave the country - See the Government and pay a fee. If at any time you make a mistake on your taxes, driving, running your business - YOU get penalized and pay a fee. If at any time the government makes a mistake on your taxes, driving ticket, your business - Pay a "professional" a fee to get it corrected. Government never penalized you are never compensated for your cost to correct their mistake. Government - Lowest paid employees, products are farmed out to the cheapest bidder, the definition of bloat and inefficiency. - In charge of it all. And some people wonder why others do not want Government oversight. |
