The Offensive Line

Sure Deuce only averaged 2.5 yards per carry in this game, but I think you have to consider two other things: we were playing the best four-man front in the NFL and they didn't give up any sacks.

My hat goes off to Jammal Brown in this game. It was the guy's first NFL game, and although he jumped twice, he limited Julius Peppers to no sacks, 6 tackles, and maybe most importantly, no big game-changing plays (interception returns, fumble recovery returns for 70 yards). He had a tough job today, and he did it well.

RE: The Offensive Line

I think the offensive line will open up bigger holes for Deuce as the season begins to progress. The part that surprised me the most was pass protection. Aaron had all day to throw, and the only reason he scrambled a few times was because the coverage was so tight. The Panthers didn't really put that much pressure on AB throughout the entire game, because they were getting mauled at the line of scrimmage. When Deuce gets a few 100 yard games under his belt and the pass protection can follow suit, we may be witnessing one of the top 5 O-lines in the game.

Brown didn't give up a sack to Peppers today. Good job rookie! :cool3:

The line looked good on pass protection. AB had a lot of time and a good pocket which for a change he decided to step up in instead of running back out of. Good job. In the running game the line looked great on the first drive and then only okay the rest of the way. (IMHO)

Well, Brown sure looked better against Peppers than Turley ever did. By far. My hat's off to the kid. Well done.

I have mixed feelings about the line... I thought they did better in a couple of preseason games than they did today. There was a double team on Peppers and he was still able to get around them and make the tackle.

It also helped that Kris Jenkins got injured a couple of times during the game so they a second stringer in his place for at least half the game. Peppers made the tackle but did not make a sack or anybody else of their defense too.

Still a couple of new guys in the fray, once this line gels it's going to be a sweet time for 26.

I think a lot had to do with no sacks was the running a lot and lots of play action. Seemed to have more timing routes.
