Another Grim Article About Moving The Team

Here is yet another article from a sportswriter that can't bear the fact that the Saints should remain in Louisiana:

I thought this article was pretty poor. Not because I don't want them to move, but because this dude seemed to just rattle off loose facts:

If not, there's always Los Angeles, though that might mean he has to sell the Saints because the NFL would prefer local ownership. That shouldn't be a major hardship since Benson said earlier this year he had been offered $1 billion for the team.

He doesn't mention any of the stadium problems in LA or the fact that the billion dollar offer is BS considering what was just payed for the Vikes. And Benson didn't say it...his lawyer did.

Benson has given New Orleans every reason to be nervous about the future of the team. He kept silent for two weeks, then said little when questioned Monday.

BS. There were satements made by the Saints before Monday. Not saying Tom is great or anything, but this wasn't really how it went down.

A new stadium is also out of the question. Imagine, when much of the city needs rebuilding, the outcry if someone suggests spending hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer money to build a football stadium for an owner that really doesn't want to be there anyway?

It has been commented on before....it seems easier to rebuild the facility as part of the rebuilding effort. The city needs a facility for its many other revenue streams that come from the Dome. This would likely not be taxpayer money, but insurance money/nfl money/some federal money.

I love the way national guys just swoop in, read the bullet points and write an article. I'm not saying that the Saints won't leave...anything could happen with a wealthy car salesman at the helm. But this dude just wrote some crap down and didn't explore any angles outside of his intended subject matter.

What I think they fail to realize is that Benson isn't going to sell this team. That isn't in the cards... Moving to LA, I take it they never contacted the front office to understand they want new blood in LA not Benson. I don't see the owners voting to move the team to SA with the darling stories they have and attention the team is getting with media ect. Plus if it looks like they will rebuild the dome HELLO NEW DOME...
