NFC South

Looks like it's going to be the division to beat. Top to bottom, there's going to be a dogfight. I just hope that the Saints can finish 4-2 in the division. Saints gotta have a few tiebreaks considering the common schedule.

Gotta love Seattle right about now....

And you Jake bashers should give him some props for beating up on a depleted Patriots' secondary.

It's a good thing that TB and Cincy are giving us the blueprints to beat Minn and Buffalo. Should we begin thinking that 5-0 is within reach? Or should we wait to see if last Sunday was a fluke against the Giants?

iceshack149 09-19-2005 01:20 AM

The Bucs look really tough so far. Their defense is back to the dominating defense we know them to have and Carnell Williams looks to be the real deal in his first two games. I really don't like the Bucs so this bugs me.

The Panthers beat the Patriots today and looked good doing it. The Saints beat the Panthers last week so I find this encouraging.

The Falcons were in the NFC Chapionship game last year. Their defense is good and has three very good running backs in Dunn, Duckett and Vick. I don't like this team either so their loss to Seattle today made me very happy.

The Saints are the most inconsistent team in the NFL and I really hope that they can maintain their focus throughout this year. If they continue to improve on defense and make smart decisions on offense (ie. clock management, Deuce, Deuce, Deuce) then I feel pretty confident in this team.

If the Saints win tomorrow night I'll be geeked but somewhat trepidous. They've gotten good at building me up only to smash everything beneath me.

Insightful.

What are those blueprints? Against Minnesota - score more points. Against Buffalo - allow fewer points. LOL

Actually it sucks...since we could have had Carolina in an 0-2 hole.

LOL. Well, I think the key to beating them will be having more points on the scoreboard when the game clock expires. If we can do that, then I think the odds are pretty good that we can pull off wins.

Now this I will agree with. Nothing would have been better than having Carolina down 0-2. Jake bashers, Brooks bashers, whatever, for the SAINTS, this would have been very good. Now we just have to do our part tonight and make sure we are still ahead of them. We would have a 2-0 record, but we would also have two NFC wins, and one win over a division opponent. The NFC wins is what screwed us out of making the playoffs last year, besides being 8-8 and losing to two previously winless teams earlier in the year.

If you are a true Saints fan you will always pull for an AFC team to beat an NFC team (that isn't the Saints) no matter what the circumstances.

papz 09-19-2005 01:12 PM

I don't see how you have rooting for AFC teams beating NFC teams as being part of a "true" Saints fan. Let's just say I'm a big Cowboys fan also (though I'm not) and they were playing the Broncos (a team I'm not a big fan of)... so if I'm rooting for the Cowboys then I'm not considered a "true" Saints fan anymore?

stockman311 09-19-2005 01:51 PM

That exactly what I'm saying. Any win that could give an NFC team a potential tie breaker over the Saints come playoff time is in direct oppostion to your Saints fandom. A true Saints fan never pulls for any other team except for the Saints. If it's the postseason and the Saints have been eliminated then I have no problem with it. If it's the preseason, pull for the Cowboys all you like. In the regular season the Cowboys are considered the enemy only one notch below Tampa, Atlanta, and Carolina.
Just look at the Rams/Jets game last year and you will get my point. Were you rooting for the Rams last year?

SaintStoneyMount 09-19-2005 01:59 PM

I'm not a Jake basher but Jake did not look good this week either. Commentator kepted noting that his throws were late coming out and he took too many chances...Anybody know his QB rating.

papz 09-19-2005 02:54 PM

Nope I was not rooting for the Rams... if fact I dispise the Rams. I enjoy watching the Panthers, Eagles, and many other teams play football. My favorite team is the Saints but I'm a football fan in general. So because I like them also in your book I'm not a "true" Saints fan. Is there any other rules you would like to make up to become a "true" Saints fan. I would love to read you do's and don't. I'll makeup a guide myself. Hmm... I'll start with anyone with numbers in their name are not considered "true" Saints fan. #2 if you don't own 10 or more Saints items, then you aren't a "true" Saints fan. #3 if you have never attended a Saints game, then again you aren't a "true" Saints fan. #4 if you cheer for an AFC team to beat NFC teams then you aren't a "true" Saints fan. How dumb does all this sound to you?

no_cloning 09-19-2005 04:26 PM

I won't tell people how to be a true Saints fan, but I have to agree with stockman that as long as an NFC team is a contender for a play-off spot that should go to the Saints, I will cheer for their opponents. And in week 2 all of them are contenders, so I'm happy when the AFC team wins.
It helps that all the other teams I like are AFC teams and NFC teams - other than the Saints - are somewhere between "hate 'em" and "don't care too much for them" at best.

CHACHING 09-19-2005 04:48 PM

Stockman is 100% correct!
I root for no team other than the Saints....period.
Postseason is a different ballgame(if eliminated).....then I'm usualy rooting for the spoilers....
I love to hate.....

duece4pres 09-19-2005 04:53 PM

It doesn't matter who the hell you root for. The Saints aren't going to need any tiebrakers this year b/c they are going deep into the playoffs. Super Bowl bound maybe(I'll put the bottle down now).
