Stallworth...

... looked like a #1 WR out there today, wouldn't you say?

I was surprised, pleased, and pretty impressed with him. Nice work today!

But can he use his hands to catch and not his chest?
fundamentals....
other than that.....he looked stellar..

YEAH BABY!!!

About time, He's stepped up BIG Today and It' nice to see.

His helping Out on Returning kicks, might have slowed him up a bit???

Don't forget, Henderson and Conwell stepping up also gives us nice depth.

When Deuce is Running like that, Man, the play action looks SCARY!

Just happy captain hamstring can stay on the field this year. He also dropped a punt that he recovered. I'm sure that's why Hakim was in there later in the game. (Ironic huh?)

PLAY CALLING - simple as that, every team we play will try to take Duece out so we have to have better play calling that will utilize the wide out more and that will open up the running game.

I think Donte did great. Maybe having a day where he is the focus can bring him along and make teh duo of Donte a Joe that much stronger..Now all together let's pray for Devery and keep Az on the bench cause sooner or later he's going to put the ball on the ground. Hell he's famous for that in New Orleans..or so I have heard.

Donte is playing great - he's in the top 15 in yards receiving, which is good enough for me. What I need to see out of the guy is more TDs. Get in the endzone Donte, that's what we signed you to do man.

What I wonder is why we never send the guy deep? He has blazing speed, but all we run for him is short slants or deep crosses, or we have a broken play when he does a comeback(and drops on the first one lol). But why don't we ever call a play where we allow him or Devery to just go for it all when we see man on man from the corners?

He played all 16 games last year stock. I think we can drop this label. I saw him seriously stretching before the game. I think he is over this problem.

Well it must be Brooks' fault right? Brooks can't throw the deep ball so Sheppard has to take that play out of his playbook - right? Or the play takes too long to develop and the odds of AB being sacked go up.... or we know that AB can't read a defense so he'll probably just throw up a pick, right?

Hey, this thread is about Stallworth. Let's talk about Brooks though!

:bang:

You said it, not me. I really think you should give up the Brooks hating though. Or is it that you love him? I don't know, you'll just say something else later anyway.

Yes, I probably will. As his play improves or worsens I will change my criteques accordingly. I know that's a novel concept for some, but I try not to choose a position and then stubbornly stick with it despite changes that would make it more or less defensible.

stockman311 10-03-2005 11:19 AM

Ignore, Ignore, Ignore.

Outside of the first pass for almost an INT, Brooks was good.

Yeah, I see what you mean.

This week Stallworth was working the X receiver routes, the ones Joe Horn usually runs. He does try to catch balls with his chest too much, when he uses his hands he's very effective. They throw to him deep, but I too would like to see it happen more. I think step one is to continue to be reliable catching the ball. The other thing with him is his ball skills. I want to see him win more battles for the ball on deep routes, aka Steve Smith. As small as Smith is, he has outstanding ball skills and is very adept at catching the ball at its highest point (it helps to have a 40 in. vertical, no doubt). I think when Stallworth's ball skills improve more you'll see more long balls & slants and seam routes turn into touchdowns. What he's done so far is promising, finally.

subguy 10-04-2005 07:50 PM

Stallworth was put in a position to run Horn's seperation patterns. When Horn is back i would like to see Horn back to his routes and his usual consistent self and then Stallworth deep.
