"Leadership is overrated"
 

... I constantly see posts that claim the o-line as being like a swiss cheese when it goes to pass protection... so I ask myself: do these guys really want to block for Brooks? Do they have the "no one touches him" mentality that you see in, say, the Packers' line? When you see the Packers play, win or lose, you know who the man is on the field. Same with the Colts. You know who the leader is, and you have a sense that those players around those guys not only want to play well, but alsodon't want to let their QB down.

Personally, I don't think the Saints o-line do. Yes I know they are professionals and all, and I don't doubt they go all out when they play, but I don't sense that "no one touches him" mentality. I don't think these guys see Brooks as their leader and want to protect his butt and not let him down, but rather they seek to do their job and merely block the guy in front of them.

...now on defense, the Saints don't have a true leader either (thank you for your keen observation, Captain Obvious!!).. they have very good individual players ,but not one guy to guide them on the field... I think that the Saints need a MLB who not only can direct the plays, but read offenses as well. All the great defenses have had a great MLB (Lambert, Singletary, Lewis, Mills - Dome Patrol hell yeah! - )... these are men who the other defensive players not only listen to, but heed their words... while it is possible to have a group of talented individuals play solid defense without a true leader in the middle like say, the 2003 Panthers, greatness has never been achieved by such a setting...


... and I don't think anyone on the team wants to win for Haslett either..

Damn, I also find myself not wanting Haz to suceed so it will ensure his departure as quickly as possible. Same for AB, Carney, Craft, Conwell, Hakim and a few others. If you can't play hit the bricks.

If that were the case, we woudln't have seen a 4 game win streak at the end of the season. I feel like most of them were playing to save Haslett's job, as well as the outside chance at the playoffs...

Sometimes I feel like I am talking to myself. (Let me know if I am guys.)

Leadership, leadership, leadership is all I have been preaching. Whether it be the coach, QB or a guy on the D. People, not only on the football field or in combat, but PEOPLE will do what ever they have to for a GREAT LEADER. Great leaders can inspire hope when there is none. Great leaders KNOW if the "team" fails, it is because he/she failed his "team". Great leaders can make you go that extra mile when you feel you can't take another step. Leadership is what this team is missing.

If Haz was a true leader we would not be having this discussion. I believe a true leader could make AB preform to level he should be performing at now. (Don't take it as I am making a case for BoB) But guys I truely believe with the right leadership this team, with the current players we have now, could and would play 100% better within one game. If a true leader (coach) were to come here, trust me, players on both sides of the ball WOULD STEP UP. Leadership has a very big effect on the performance of people.

I am currently taking request of head coach, please send to the front office and thanks for your support.

..and again, for the 1000th time, 2 wins against teams that couldn't buy a win, and one win against a Falcons team that had nothing to play for other than not having anyone get hurt... Carolina was severely nicked

..seems that it is only against Carolina that they show up to play...

Of course, the Saints have a history of this:
..when the Rams were going to SBs, the Saints beat them...
..when the Bucs were going to SBs, the Saints beat them...
..now that the Panthers have made it to the SB, the Saints beat them...

.. unfortunately there isn't leadership anywhere in this team to carry that into an entire season...

Now luck last year they pulled the season out of there butts for Has so its not not wanting to something for him. Its not not wanting to do something for Brooks because they suck at blocking for Deuce. They are professionals and there next job depends on what they do day in and day out. 2 words for ya... Kyle Turley. They one guy who would rip the opponets head off -literally- ha ha for messing or roughing his QB up reguardless of the score... he is someone who gets it. Hes gone, no one on that line has that mentality... Those are the kinds of players you need on this team for that mentality and leadership. You have to weight in do we want some issues in the locker room for some wins and attitude.
