My brother was at the NFL news conference

My brother told me that the commissioner said in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that the Saints-Dolfins game would be the measuring stick by which this "committee" would judge the viability of the New Orleans/Gulf South region to be the home of an NFL franchise.

In other words, if this isn't a complete sellout, then the committe will vote to let Benson leave.

I did my part and bought 4 tickets even though there's not a chance in hell I can attend.

I would suggest that anyone who doesn't already have tickets and wants there to be a hope that the Saints return to New Orleans put their money where their hearts are and try to get a sellout.

I would also suggest that anyone who's not been able to redeem their season tickets through the Saints offices contact Tagliabue personally and be IRATE about the lack of consideration.

You're right, Euph, it was my bad for not referencing the 6 other threads and the AP and Reuters releases related to the news conference announcing the NFL commission which will evaluate the Saints situation. I made the erroneous assumption that people who visit this site with any feigned regularity would have either an attention span, memory or judgment. Sorry for overestimating you.

My brother has no axe to grind, he simply related to me what he heard first hand and how it differed from the wire reports. He's simply a New Orleans business owner who was asked to be present at this event. He's not going to issue a press release for you. Too bad if that's not enough.

Only you know how much you want to have the Saints remain in New Orleans.

Do something or don't.

I also realize that "shame" is not a function in lower order animals, so I am going to refrain from wasting my time telling you that if you complain about it without doing anything you're a d-bag.

T-R, I agree that evaluating the viability of the region based on the ability of a displaced population with no cash or income to attend ONE football game within mere weeks of their tragedy is patently rediculous. However, this is the NFL and looking the other way is their specialty. Tagliabue's presence at this game simply confirms the apparent short-sightedness. He's putting on a show, so either we put one on, too, or we confirm the lousy hypothesis. The choices suck. But we play the hand we're dealt or we fold.

We appreciate the scoop man! I know some on here might try to dispell what anyone says and I don't think Euphoria was trying to get on you, but from what I've heard just today from people that I know, I believe you. But mostly guys, and I say this to everyone,

WE GOTTA GET OUT THERE AND SUPPORT THIS TEAM AND WE HAVE TO SELL THE PLACE OUT!!!

This is NOT a vote for or against Tom Benson, it's a fight for an NFL franchise, period.

BUY TICKETS AND THEY ARE CHEAP! Don't worry about converting your old tickets, if you can get an individual ticket for the game it's $25 or $20 for the 4 game set.

GO GO GO GO GO GO GO DO IT NOW!

DUH… there was a conference I am not saying there wasn’t but I am calling you out on the comment about… “My brother told me that the commissioner said in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that the Saints-Dolfins game would be the measuring stick by which this "committee" would judge the viability of the New Orleans/Gulf South region to be the home of an NFL franchise.

No I am calling you out on this one... You did the same thing awhile back. So if the Commission came out and said that ITS NEWS! Don't cha think... News agencies would report that as HEADLINES. Some of us or not as naive as you may think we are. I for one work in the news field and believe me that would be NEWS, and as many news agencies as they are ya think that would be reported by one, ONE come on ONE… nope ZERO. It didn’t happen that was not said, I am sorry to inform you. Would you like a transcript of the press conference? They are available to those who attended. Also they make it a habit of inviting simple business men to press conferences -yeah ok. So they invited a simple businessman to NY for a conference and he flew there to see it… and this would benefit who?

This game is not the sole measuring stick as much as some would like to thing as to the Saints remaining in New Orleans or not.

Don't kid yourself that all things are out in the open. Most deals are done outside the spotlight of the press. And most tangible discussions are done offline, where there is no transcript. My attempts that you reference from the past are simply sharing inside knowledge. I shall refrain from doing so in the future as it clearly upsets the balance.

Personally, I don't completely believe this. I, however, won't discredit it either. Getting into the "I have a friend that heard...he said...she said," business can be very risky. Although, I don't see very many reasons why this can't be legit.

I'm undecided on this one, but I do thank xan for posting it.
