Ah, the master plan is working

I said last year when we were 4-8 the plan was to crap out and go for Leinart. Except he didn't come out, and we won 4 straight games at the end. Needless to say, it seems the plan is in FULL effect this season. Crap out and get Leinart. And the league seems to be helping with this plan. No, there is no excuse for losing to the Rams with their 4 best players out, and I still don't excuse us for giving 21 points to the Falcons off turnovers, but, what better advertising does the team need for LA when they have Leinart as the QB? Matt Leinart, hero in SoCal, QB of your Los Angeles Saints. Instant sell out. Stadium filled. The league is doing their best to assure us of this pick in the draft to make it happen. Then as Mort reports, SA for a year, then on to sunny SoCal, with golden boy Matt Laeinart at QB. This has to be the plan, caus eIr efuse to believe we suck this bad two years in a row. Need a win, Call the Saints. all your best players out, no prob, call the Saints. Uh-uh. We're on the Leinart plan.

That might work out if we only had fewer wins than Houston. David Carr may not last through the end of the season (nor is it a given that they pick up his option). Green Bay and Oakland may not win another game. And, Baltimore is looking to get on the Leinart train, too, as they have less talent on offense than Aaron Brooks combined. It will be a very rough time trying to lose every game. Hell, Miami needs a good QB, too, no guarrantee that they'll show up to play with so much at stake and already out of the playoff hunt (only ONE team from the AFC east will go and it won't be the Fins).

That's the beauty in the plan. See, Houston could have Dan Marino at QB, their O-line is beyond horrendous. I think they will take an O-lineman with the first pick. Next, Miami beats us next week, giving us a closer shot at the number one. Baltimore will not give up on Boller yet IMO. And I have a hard time believing they will not find a way to post a couple of upsets towards the end of the season. Green Bay already picked aaron Rodgers last year, so they will look at defense high, or Reggie Bush. Plus, we could use the option of trading Aaron Brooks to one of these teams. Is Baltimore really gonna take a shot on another rookie running the team, although it is Leinart? Or would they prefer a vet who just may not be in the right situation in New Orleans? We know differently, but maybe they don't have sportscenter or the internet in Baltimore.

I don't think there's any way that AB's unique abilities have gone unnoticed anywhere in the league. I doubt that even the most desperate team would be willing to put this guy in a starting role, which is why the Texans haven't contacted the Saints yet. Or Baltimore (they will give up on Boller given half a chance). Or Tampa. Or Buffalo. Or Arizona. Or the Jets. Or the Lions. Each of these teams have serious QB issues and have many coveted assets for which they could trade up and grab Leinart no matter where the Saints end up. There are only two QB's worth mentioning for the upcoming draft, Leinart and Vince Young of Texas. Young's a project, though he could do a lot for a team like the Texans as he's more mobile and potentially durable than Carr. There's no way that the Saints will have better than a 5th. They'll manage to screw up and win a couple and get 8th.

Sssshhhh, don't let the league hear you doubting the plan. You'll get rubbed out. So okay, we can't trade AB. I still bet there is a coach who feels they can turn him around though. I mean it took a while, but rich Gannon finally got there under the right coach. We always have that to point to as a possibility. And no doubt we will wind up winning a couple, just like last year. I am just looking at who are our biggest obstacles though to overcome for the top pick. Standings wise, I already touched Miami, who would be 3-4 if they beat us next week while we would be 2-6. Then there's the Jets, who prob would take Leinart also giving Pennington's arm troubles, but docs have said he will recover fully for next season, and they aren't gonna rush him back. There's Baltimore, who is a threat, and there's Cleveland, also a threat. I expect Baltimore to win more games than us, and Cleveland will surprise for a couple as well. They also could be looking for defense cause dilfer has played okay when given time to throw, and Crennel as a d-coordinator. Tenn has Volek, but the chance to grab Leinart may be too good to pass up with Chow there, although they have cap issues and getting a QB at that salary may be difficult, and I already touched on Houston with Carr. There's Oakland, but they will win more games than us. Minny has Daunte, and GB has rodgers, and Favre still. Ari I believe will stick with McCown, although Leinart may be too good to pass up, and San Fran just took Alex Smith. We got a shot, and with everyone seemingly conspiring to get it done, there's a good chance. :D

Here's what is going to happen. Houston goes 0-16, they drop David Carr, and they get the #1 overall pick. The Saints go 2-14, and end up with the #2 draft pick. The Saints then proceed to trade up to get the #1 pick with their first and second round picks because the Texans effectively bluff that they were going to take Leinart. We then drop AB and draft D'Brickashaw Ferguson because we think we just pulled a smart trick on the Texans. We then end up starting bouman, and Houston drafts their quarterback (Leinart) that saves their franchise who eventually ends up being a Hall of Famer. The Saints, however, continue to suck.
