Since we don't have any hotly debated topic right now... nothing to make us sling profanities at one another and question each other's sanity and intelliegence... I thought I'd throw out a nice highly controversial topic... b/c let's face it, who doesn't love those heated debates? Ha! ;) I mean, hell, I'm always in the middle anyway, so...

Ready? Let the games begin... What do you guys think about the Bill to ban all partial birth abortions?

Hey, are you skating the issue Gator!? LOL!

As to your question... what else do you expect them to say? Damn, those Americans are beating the crap out of us. The end is near. Yeah, that will really up the morale of the Iraqi people and inspire their troops to keep fighting.

By the way I oppose the abortion bill... seeing as how I assume (that\'s dangerous) most of the people on this board to be southern conservatives, I bet I\'ll be met with a little... uh... opposition. Bring it on!

Most of what I know comes from news and newspapers. I can find stuff online, but it\'s usually from very partial sources - planned parenthood vs. the Christian league... or biased sources such as those.

What I can tell you is that thebill is currently being debated by congress. With a Republican controlled house and senate... and pesident, this looks to have a good chance of becoming a law. As I understand it the law would make all \"late-term\" and \"partial-birth\" abortions illegal. I\'m not sure exaclty how those are defined, but I do know that there will be no exceptions if the bill is passed in its current state. That means that if a mother has complications with her pregnancy, and an abortion would save her life, then she will be faced with the choice of breaking the law to save her own life, or watching herself and her unborn child die. Not a great plan from where I sit.

Here\'s a quote from the planned parenthood site. Obviously, it\'s purpose is to affect people\'s opinions, not to simply report, so take it for what it is worth.

\"The U.S. Senate passed an abortion ban with no exception for women’s health. Despite affirming its support for Roe v. Wade, the Senate’s ban is in direct conflict with Roe and with Stenberg v. Carhart, a case in which the U.S. Supreme Court ruled a nearly identical ban unconstitutional.

Senators rejected a prevention package, which would have supported family planning initiatives to reduce unintended pregnancy and to improve access to prenatal and postpartum care for women. By defeating this measure, which would have reduced the need for abortion, anti-choice senators proved yet again that their real agenda is to dismantle women’s reproductive rights.\"

What I can confirm is that this is the first law past by our government that makes abortion of any kind illegal, since Roe v Wade. So it is hard to tell whether this will even stand up... It\'s ability to survive depends entirely, as I understand it, on how you define life, and when does a child become a child... at conception, in uttero, at birth...? Hope this helps.

I oppose it strictly when a woman\'s life is at stake. Using it as a way to take care of an unwanted pregnancy is wrong, in my opinion. That\'s about all I\'ll say, as these types of debates are never fruitful.

I believe:
A woman has the right to do what she wants to or with her body.
Abortion should not be used as birth control.
Abortion can be used to save the mother\'s life.
Life begins when a Zygote is formed.

So-called \"Partial-birth\" abortion is performed in the second and third trimesters and entails (1) inducing a breech delivery with forceps, (2) delivering the legs, arms and torso only, (3) puncturing the back of the skull with scissors or a trochar, (4) inserting a suction curette into the skull, (4) suctioning the contents of the skull so as to collapse it, (5) completing the delivery. A partial breech delivery is not considered a \"birth\" at common law, where it is the passage of the head that is essential.

Sounds a wee bit like a human form there. Almost scary. Couldn\'t of this decision have been made by a woman in the first trimester? This to me appears to be to late in the pregnancy. Many states have already banned this. I know Florida has.

Don't want em to get your goat don't show em where it's hid.
