Bradshaw wants to help buy Saints, prevent move

By David Barron, Houston Chronicle

There was the usual amount of hee-hawing and rhetoric on the set of Fox NFL Sunday, but there was a kernel of seriousness mixed in, too — and, from all people, Terry Bradshaw.

As the topic turned to New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson's reported desire to move the team to San Antonio, Bradshaw said, "I've got people who are willing to put up the money, and I'm one of those.

"Right now I've got a cash flow problem, but we are willing to put up the money to buy the Saints. And Tom, you can go on back to San Antonio and take it easy with your kids and enjoy it."

The set dissolved into laughter as the show ended, but a Fox Sports spokesman said Sunday night that Bradshaw was serious — that he is interested in being part of a group that would buy the Saints and keep the franchise in New Orleans.

Bradshaw, a native of Shreveport who lives in suburban Dallas, declined through a spokesman to elaborate or to provide names of the potential buyers.

This hurricane was a great example of why the city does NOT need a facility like the Dome. It was a utter failure. A sewage filled prison teamming with people who were lured there with the false hope of safety and protection. And in the end it, it was proven to be anything but that.

Halo is right, we should build and open air stadium. Take advantage of the humidity that most other teams are not used to praticing or playing in. I'm not saying it would guarantee us a winning season year in and year out, but it would be good for probably an extra two or three wins during the first half of the season when it is still hot down here. In addition, the lesser cost of a stadium rather than a dome, would be more pratical in a state that is beleagered with budgeting problems.

The only reason the dome fell into complete disaray is due to lack of police presence. If they would have moved there facilities there and policed the crowds... if the mayor was on top of this and had the foresight there wouldn't have been suck lawlessness.

right on euph. really if the crap heads who stuck around were moved out by nagin before hadn it would not have happened. all i know is they destroyed the place in a couple of days. doesn't say much for the type of person who was there either.

Spkb25 speaks closer to the truth. The people should not have been moved into the Dome, they should have been bused out of the city. And if they had a open stadium, like Halo was suggesting, then Nagin would have been forced to do the right thing, and move the people out of harms way before the storm.
You see that would have kinda protected him from himself.

I've stated before, I'll never watch a game in the Superdome again.

I agree with Halo.

Build an open air stadium. Include a retractable roof for rainy days. Sell the team to Bradshaw Investment and Hair Recovery, Inc. Bulldoze the Dome. Inter Mr. Benson into Agola's Sodomy Palace for income tax evasion, fraud, and stupidity.

Saints win the Superbowl in 2010.
