Lets Debate... Undefeated Season or Superbowl

The Colts are looking strong. So lets say they are facing a dilema, they clinch home field in the playoffs and have 2 games left in the season... do they sit the stars are play them and go for the undefeated season. Which is more important... I mean I can't tell you off the top of my head who won the 1990 Superbowl but I can tell you that the 1972 Dolpins was the only undefeated team in NFL history.

RE: Lets Debate... Undefeated Season or Superbowl

That's a good point. There have been, thusfar, 39 Superbowl winners, but only one undefeated team. However, in the end, no one is going to critize Peyton Manning for not going undefeated, but he will catch hell if he does not win the Superbowl.

True, and also I think part of the reason why people remember the 72 Dolphins is because they DID win the Super Bowl that year... if they hadn't I'm not sure we would hear as much about them

RE: Lets Debate... Undefeated Season or Superbowl

I think we hear so much is because they celebrate the undefeated season every year when the last undefeated team loses... I don't hear anything about the Super Bowl win. I do agree if he doesn't win the Super Bowl he will get lots of flack over that. I am still in awe over the situation developing that the Super Bowl could come down to Manning vs. Manning. I felt this could happen but not so early.

Panthers > Colts in the Superbowl. Though I think the Colts will win, I'll stick with my off season prediction.

... anyone over 30 knows that...
... in 1990, the Giants won the Superbowl, on Scott Norwood's "wide right" field goal attempt...
... one of the best renditions of the National Anthem ever, sang by Whitney Houston, highlightted by a fly-by of Stealth fighters...

... I think an undefeated season means nothing if you don't win the Superbowl..

BTW, the 1972 Dolphins went 17-0. The Colts could actually beat that and still not win the SB.

Yeah, technically didn't the 1985 Bear have just as many wins, or more wins than the 1972 Dolphins, even though they lost one game?
