But, he does have four rings on his finger, he's got a bit of charisma, and seems to care about the situation. I certainly don't see how he could do any worse than Benson & Co. I mean, when you're already on the bottom, there's no direction but up.

I support it.

... well, there's the ol' flatline...

Hey BOB, go back to your corner with Brooks and keep that crap out of every other thread that has nothing to do with Brooks. Hey Mods maybe we should be thinking about a lockout if BOB continues his childish ways. Hey BOB were you beat as a child or are you still one?

If the political trending is correct, Benson may sell if he thinks he'll be "stuck" in NO with no options. Given that LA (and possibly the other owners) doesn't want Benson and San Antonio is out, Benson's got less leverage to negotiate with the State and the City. With the prospect of not filling the greed hole, he would be wise to withdraw and declare $1 billion in victory. A 300% return over 20 years is pretty damn good. As JD Rock' said, "Never stay in for the last penny."

I don't think it will happen. Much as I'd love to see it...

The financial risk will scare away potential investors. It'd be different if there'd been no Katrina/Rita, but because the situation is so unstable, finding a host of investors seems to me very unlikely. I mean, this is the higher end of a billion dollars we're talking about here. They'll likely prefer to wait a year or two before even considering it.

Yes.

Publically, it seems Tags and the NFL are pretty much trying to put a moratorium on sale or moving the team through 2006. I'm somewhat encouraged by that.

Negotiations may be much different behind closed doors.

I'm confident that the NFL will attempt to keep the Saints in New Orleans if they feel it is viable. Only time will tell. And it seems they are willing to give it a little time.
