Wouldn't mind Leinart.... also wouldn't mind trading down and picking up a couple of picks

RE: NFLdraftcountdown.com mock

Me too, as there are two defensive players on the board who would shore up the D-line and LB corps. The D's been ok this season, but teams still run through us like pork fat through a goose.

TheDeuce 11-11-2005 12:47 PM

RE: NFLdraftcountdown.com mock

Yeah, but the D isn't the biggest problem on this team, and I think we need to address the QB situation immediately... AB just can't do it

xan 11-11-2005 12:56 PM

RE: NFLdraftcountdown.com mock

I'm a certified, card carrying, bull-horn blowing, nukular bomb dropping AB critic, but the D's gotta get better first and there will be many other options at qb. Simply cutting AB after the season makes the QB position better.

RE: NFLdraftcountdown.com mock

Between the OL and the D that is where I would address first. Amac...

TheDeuce 11-11-2005 01:48 PM

RE: NFLdraftcountdown.com mock

What has AMac proved thus far? That he's not smart and can't learn the playbook quickly. Are you really willing to turn this team over to a kid who has never played an NFL game, or leave it with AB?

4saintspirit 11-11-2005 02:08 PM

Well -- I think we have no shot at the playoffs -- but the optimist says give it 1 more loss. After the next loss we should start Amac -- let him play out the season -- evaluate him -- if he progresses don't draft a QB -- draft a stud linebacker and keep Brooks (renegotiating his contract to get better cap numbers) and Amac. Give Amac a fair shot to win the starting job next year and go from there. If Amac doesn't look like he got any better with experience then draft Leinhart or Vince Young (personally I like Young better)

saintswhodi 11-11-2005 02:31 PM

That's prob the best idea 4ss. After the loss to the Pats next week, go ahead and plug A-Mac in. We would get 6 games to see what he has, and where he is. If he is even decent, or better than what we have, cause frankly how could he be worse, then just maybe we pass on QB. And just maybe someone would be desperate enough to trade into our spot should we be high enough and not want Leinart. And just maybe we can come out of the draft with a stud LB or CB, and a stud O-lineman to go with Jamaal, and LeCharles. And just maybe someone would be dumb enough to give us a second day pick for AB as well, and maybe we can use that with our second, move back into the first and get another good player.

Or we could trade AB to San D for Brees or Rivers. He would be the backup for either one, but at least he has started in the NFL, and would give them a small amount of security.

spkb25 11-11-2005 02:37 PM

don't want leinart personally. dude i would pull a dallas and just trade a lot of our vets. keep the young guys like will smith and grant ,bentley and the likes, you get the idea. get as many picks as possible for the next tow years and roll. we would probably suck at first but damn we do that now. we would probably win the super bowl in 3-4 years. well thats just me. i would get rid of deuce at this point too. i love the guy man but i haven't seen anything from him the last two years. with this injury it may take him another year to really get healthy again. like james from indy. i am not sure the injury is the same but seems close enough. well that is just me. lets stop playing games and really clean house

spkb25 11-11-2005 02:40 PM

this of course with us firing haz and coimpany first

Well, at least he played more than one year at the highest college level, and has won a national title and the Heisman. He is a consensus number one pick, and is more NFL ready than any other QB in the draft. Next question.

Not only this draft, but last year, and the year before. I don't think I've seen a guy with this many positives since his predecessor. And we all see how he's doing this year.

That's why I'm really hard headed about aquiring a QB in the first round this year. It will take some years for anyone to adjust to the NFL at that position, and I would like to secure that spot on my roster as early as possible.

But with so many needs, would you sell the farm, if that were the case, to get him?

with my first pick in the 2006 draft, i'd take terry bradshaw as the general manager.
the rest will fall in place..........
by the way, why is miami picking 1st?............................smitty

BlackandBlue 11-11-2005 04:25 PM

Would I be selling the farm if it came to my pick and he was still on the board. BPA, baby, BPA.

A point I've tried to make over and over... on deaf ears. What do we do in the mean-time? Keep Brooks or sign a veteran to keep us above water 'till the newbie gets his feet? I feel this is worth attention. Excuse me while I go out into my yard a scream.

Nope. But then again, that wasn't my question.

My answer to that question is in the other thread. You know, I have this thing about repeating myself.....

on deaf ears.
Not necessarily. Just because people may not have responded, does not mean that they were not in agreement. Unless I have something valuable to add, more than likely, I will be in silent agreement as well.

Quote:

Correct. If you are referring to trading up, then no, I've never been a fan. But I'm not all that concerned about the number of spots between the 1st pick and where the Saints pick, either ;)

I guess I get a little frustrated with those who do respond - Comments on what they hope is the end result with little attention to what it takes to get us there.

Call me anal.

BlackandBlue 11-11-2005 04:42 PM

Hey Anal :D

If you don't like you'r new "rank", let me know, and I'll take it off ;)

TallySaint 11-11-2005 04:51 PM

If you must know, I prefer "Funkmaster D"

Don't ask.

BlackandBlue 11-11-2005 05:03 PM

Problem is, if I let you create your own title, then other people will start nagging me to change theirs, endless PM's and emails, before long, you'll have dogs and cats, living together....MASS HYSTERIA!!!!!

Ask me again....in a few months....over PMs....

spkb25 11-11-2005 06:13 PM

i really haven't watched leinart to much but in the nd game he didn't impress me. he seemed to underthrow his wideouts quite often. they were just wide open so it didn't really matter. for you guys that have watched him please tell me what i am missing.

Who's selling the farm? We're are 2-7. We will prob get to draft him straight away.

SaintsAvenger 11-14-2005 09:11 PM

One word Heisman, Enough said

maximkat 11-15-2005 08:53 AM

lol...three names: Rashaan Salaam, Danny Wuerffel, and Ron Dayne...let's not include Football's greatest popularity contest into this please. I won't lend any interest in this award until i see a lineman win it.

My decision would depend on Amac's play this year - if we see him (lord willing.) Only then would I be able to make a decision on a round 1 pick.

Euphoria 11-15-2005 09:55 AM

Heisman, HA.... that isn't enough now-a-days.

saintswhodi 11-15-2005 10:18 AM

No, but a couple of national titles and EVERY analyst calling you the consensus number one draft prospect, PLUS a Heisman is.

..the problem is that you want to hear os "bring this guy"... Like BnB, I don't like repeating myself, unless it is in the pursuit of personal amusement while belittling those with lesser intellect :), so go read my very welll thought out response ( if I may say so myself) to your question in your original post

FireVenturi 11-15-2005 06:10 PM

leinart won't get passed the titans...er norm chow. so i like Young!!!!!

CheramieIII 11-15-2005 06:50 PM

I don't think the Titans will take Leinhart because of Volek. I really believe they will draft OT. But I have been wrong before and I know sure as shiiiiiittttttt I will be wrong again. You heard it here first sports fans, but I'm not wrong about that guy whose name I won't mention.
