Good News, Bad News

Sporting News Radio Flash is reporting that "the New Orleans Saints are ready to part ways with Aaron Brooks at the conclusion of the season". However, they are also reporting that the Texans are ready to do the same with David Carr, meaning they just became the front runner in the Lienart Sweepstakes.

saintswhodi 11-16-2005 02:32 PM

Isn't this just our damn luck?

Tobias-Reiper 11-16-2005 02:55 PM

...well, I don't know... I wouldn't mind seeing David Carr in B&G... I see him in a situation similar to the situation Kerry Collins was in Carolina... I've heard a couple of interviews, and he doesn't come out and say it, but the way he phrases his comments leads me to believe that he's mentally done with the Texans.

.. it may be that I don't like USC, but I just don't see it in Leinart...

mjf150 11-16-2005 04:39 PM

Two things wrong with your post. One, Kerry Collin leaving Carolina for New Orleans did not help the Saints. Second, David Carr to New Orleans would be more of the same.

What were your feelings on Carson when he entered the draft?

ssmitty 11-16-2005 04:57 PM

i don't know what you all see or don't see in carr........
i have yet to see a qb take a beating and not show some shell shock to a degree........
i have seen many of them get off their butt and get knocked down again and again....
but carr, with an offense to some degree can really flat out burn you............
i'd have no problem at all seeing carr in b&g.................
he's does not quit.............smitty

Collins played what? 7 games with the Saints? During Mike Ditka's term?
I'm talking of Collins' move to New York. Get with the program, now...

...well, Carson's Trojans were not given a paper championship by the media when in reality it was LSU who won that championship. :)

.....but seriously:
I think the success of the USC offense is more Reggie Bush than Matt Leinart. Carson Palmer didn't have a Reggie Bush. I could see Palmer playing in the NFL. Leinart looks like a Gino Torretta to me. It's nothing that I can quantify for you, just a gut feeling... hey, I've been known to be wrong before :)

Hey, buddy, no need to get bent out of shape. The point is Kerry Collins, if you look at the program, has never been a "great" QB. In fact, in his 11 year career, he has only played three full seasons, had a QB rating over 80 just 3 times, had a QB rating under 75 eight times. Threw just 7 more TD's than INTs. And a completion percentage under 60 in 10 out of 11 years. Yeah, yeah, he's been to a Super Bowl, but so has Trent Dilfer.

I would rather have Carr than Leinart, shorter time to get him up to speed...I would also be open to seeing Rivers, Carr, and A-Mac gun it out in training camp for the job...I see AB going to Tampa, Miami, or even Detroit if the qb situation does not get better there...Sound off

Brooks isn't going anywheres until we get a real GM and new coaches.

LordOfEntropy 11-17-2005 11:45 AM

Is his contract exploding yet? Most contracts tend to expand on the back end, and that could well put the nail in the coffin, even with the existing maroons/coaches/GM.

jrmllb 11-17-2005 01:57 PM

I think AB is due to make $5.5 million next year, that by the way puts him in the top 10 of all quarterbacks in the NFL, Something I think most of us would agree he is not...

Exactly. This current regime isn't big on crazy changes. O and Haz, Brooks, and Loomis are involved in a threesome.

Yes. 6.25 next year. That could force the hand of oven our front office :)

Who's saying he is/was "great"? What point?? What the...??

I posted that Carr, seems to me, is a situation similar to Collins in Carolina, and that he found success after he left Carolina. No one is saying he is great...

..why do I even bother...

The O in the sentence was actually me remembering, that "O yeah, those three are in a relationship"

spkb25 11-17-2005 11:03 PM

i don't like leinart and would prefer if we didn't draft him

Thanks for clearing that up.

Collins never went to the Super Bowl. His team went to the NFC Championship and lost. So there you go. He at least went to the NFC Championship unlike Brooks.

Euphoria 11-18-2005 11:21 AM

Why do we even allow a team to take 53 or so people to the superbowl why don't we just have a football team with one player the QB and to heck witheveryone else, I guess they just don't matter.

Sir, you are incorrect. Collins was heading the ship with the Giants when they lost the Super Bowl to the Ravens 34-7.

Saint_LB 11-20-2005 07:48 AM

I have some good news/bad news for you! The bad news is that an alien space ship has landed in New Orleans. The good news is that they eat QB's that smile after they throw a pick and they piss gasoline.
