Haslett not thrilled about Brooks' mark
With his two touchdown passes to Donte' Stallworth on Sunday, New Orleans Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks broke Archie Manning's franchise career record.

Manning finished his career in New Orleans with 115 touchdown passes. Brooks has 116.

Saints coach Jim Haslett, keeping his team's lackluster history in perspective, didn't seem too impressed.

"That's not saying much, to be honest with you," Haslett said.

Why SHOULD Haslett care about the record?

If Vinny Testaverde had set some sort of all-time passing record last year in Dallas, do you think Parcells would have cared much, especially if they had just lost to the Eagles?

An accomplishment of such magnitute is indeed a accomplishment. If you watched the game
the announcers acknowledged this accomplishment. That should let you know right there that
Aaron has accomplished something to be proud of. Coach Haslett is one of Aarons biggest supporters. What would you expect the head coach to say? The Saints lost the game. Coach Haslett is just disappointed about the loss and that is what a coach is supposed to do. The team should always come before individual accomplishments.

Before those of you who are jaded begin to rip this post just remeber this If you accomplished something of importance in your workplace and it was noted in some form or fashion, employee of the month, newspaper article, payraise etc., you would feel good about that accomplishment. Now imagine the haters trying to discredit your accomplishment. While it may not be the equivalent of surpassing an alltime great to catch a good QB who played with a struggling franchise for approximately 12 years in almost half that time, and to say that he has more TD's than that good QB and others is indeed something. Aaron Brooks, Archie Manning, Bobby Hebert, Jim Everret. Never the best in the history of the NFL but the best the Saints have ever had.

That's what some folks at this forum (those who rip Aaron Brooks almost to the point of complete lunacy) do not understand. It's not about whether you like Aaron Brooks. It's not about whether you think he should be here next year. The fact is, he re-wrote a Saint record. They are so hell-bent in their hatred against him that they'll find some way to discredit anything he does.

There are several QBs in the league that i personally don't care for............but if they reach some sort of personal milestone, then hey.....congratulations. I'm not gonna sit there and find reasons why their accomplishments should be belittled or swept under the rug..

He is speaking about the Saints past, as in Brooks breaking this record is no big deal. Simple question, how many QBs do we have in theNFL hall of fame? None. How many have won league MVPs? Well, one, Archie. Does anyone think Brooks will ever get one of those? Hell no. He is pretty much saying what's to get excited over. It's not like we have a storied history of QBs. I mean, isn't Deuce our all time leading rusher or close to it? Setting any record for the Saints, outside of maybe sacks or tackles or something cause we have had some great defenses, is no big deal at all.
