5 more for the weekend

1. With Shad, Zach, Conwell, Hall, and Williams under contract, who do you think will start for us next season? Who should be let go?

2. Is Ronald McKinnon finally our answer at middle linebacker? If so, what should we do with Courtney Watson?

3. Judging by the dramatic success of the Colts defense this year, if we had acquired Corey Simon instead of Indy, what kind of impact do you think he would have had here?

4. Should we give Fakir Brown the contract he wants this offseason or do we let him walk? Whether we let him go or resign him, do you think Fred Thomas deserves the starting role back with his resurgence?

5. After this season, do you think we’ll bring Michael Lewis back? If we don’t, who do you think should return kick and punts fulltime?

RE: 5 more for the weekend

1.- Zach.. as long as someone can put the ball in front of him, and not hit the numbers on his back, he';d be a good one.

2.- Not the answer... more like the "can you please repeat the question?" or "can you please use it in a sentence?"

3.- Yes, and no. Yes it would have improved some, but the winning mentality is not there (clubwise). It does make a huge difference when you have someone to look up to and/or trust, in both players and coaches, on either side of the ball: Dungy, Manning, Meeks, Murphy.. that he's got Dwight Freeney playing next to him don't hurt either .

4.- I'd keep Fakhir. He's not spectacular, but has held his own.. wouldn't give him Bailey money, though...

5.- As much as I love the story, Beerman had one good season, and then faded... I'd bring him back, with the caveat that he's got to earn his job back... If Stevce Smith is doing it in Carolina, why not Donte witth the Saints? . By his speed alone, they can improve 5-10 yards each possession.

RE: 5 more for the weekend

1) Conwell needs to go into the PlayersAssoc. fulltime, his football career is over.

2)Mckinnon is the answer until the end of the season, Watson should be moved to the SLB spot. Mckinnon can back up our 1st rounder next year.

3) We'd be better as a defense, we actually have a DT playing DT.

4) No, heck no, and in no means h11 no..

5)No, Skyler Green 4th round pick.

RE: 5 more for the weekend

1. I would say right now that Zach needs to stay, I think we might have an emerging star... not to mention he's a REALLY BIG target which is always a good thing for our QBs. Also, I would say keep Boo for one more season and see if he can earn his spot. Shad and Conwell need to get out though, no way those guys should be back.
2. McKinnon is playing well this year, I love the energy he brings to the club. So this year, yes he is the answer. However, in the future, I don't think he can help us improve. I am all for drafting Leinart, but if we don't get him, then I think we HAVE to get a linebacker.
3. I don't think it would make that much of a difference. T-R made a great point about the winning mentality. This team just doesn't have the kind of fire inside that a team needs to win. However, he's a very good player and of course he would add talent.
4. I have not been impressed with Fakhir this season. Last year I thought he deserved the contract, but after him being hurt and his crappy play this season, I don't think he deserves anywhere near what he was asking for last year. If we can get him cheap, then sure, let's keep him. Otherwise, cut his arse.
5. If Beer Man can earn it and stop running out of bounds then yes. Just put him in the position like he is a scout team player: if he can earn it, then great. If not, SEE YA.

1. Hilton.
2. Watson to the weakside. Watson will have a real hard time if we draft Hawk.
3. Not much, I think the coaching staff at Indy is alot better on both sides of the ball.
4. No, No, No. Let him walk and did I say NO. Whoever is getting it done needs to play.
5. Beerman, maybe one more try, with a good backup plan.

3. With Venturi as DC?

Just curious, xan, why should we move to a 3-4? I personally think LBs are our weakest position on the team (besides maybe our K), so why would we want to put more of them on the field?

Good points, and good humor.

One point I'd like to discuss - switching to a 3-4. I don't agree with that move. The reasoning I have is:

1 - Charles Grant and Will Smith are built for a 4-3. Both of those guys are quality, I'd like to see them in the environment that best suits their skills. They should far outlast Haslett and Venturi. I see a need for better DT's to really let these guys shine, though.

2 - as TheDeuce mentioned, LB's are a weakness on our roster. There are no Sam Mills or Ricky Jackson's on our lineup.

can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! We've got Sedrick Hodge, Ronald McKinnon, Colby Bockwoldt, and Terrence Melton! Those guys could all be Pro Bowlers!

hahahahahahaha
