Anybody notice anything weird about the 03' Schedule

Was thinking about this last week. The 49er games were special, the Rams too to a certain degree, but I will definately miss the 49er games. We had some great games played when I was growing up.

The most fierce and hated rival remains - Atlanta. That was always the best game to me. And don\'t think we\'ll continue to beat up on the Bucs like we did last year. A couple of good whippings from them.... seeing sapp and brooks and rice and keyshawn dance around on the Dome floor a couple of times will make your blood boil and you\'ll hate them just as you did young, rice, owens, waters, warner, bruce, faulk, holt... but not Hakim. We love Hakim... why, do we love him? You should all know the answer to that.

Oh JEEZ Gator. Give me a break man.... ;)

Yes, I will miss those games. Happy? I was simply saying that Atlanta is the rivalry I love/hate the most and Tampa could turn into that kind of rivalry pretty quickly, thus making me forget the old Rams/49ers rivalries, which I DO miss.

HAPPY?!?!?!?! :P :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet: :casstet:

I\'m gonna miss the 49ers games. We seem to have such bad luck with scheduling ! Now that the 49ers and Rams suck, they\'re no longer in our division. Instead we have the world champs and the most exciting player in the nfl to contend with twice a year! But , look at it this way. At least when Erickson gets drunk and crashes into a light poll, it won\'t be because of a loss to the Saints ! :D

In due time the thoughts of past rivalries will fade, It seems like ancient history, but the Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Colts were once rivals.

Not Me. I\'m glad they\'re gone. Oh sure we won a few games and it was exciting to beat them but that wasn\'t always the case. No more Rice, Owens or Faulk. Can\'t forget Flipper Anderson. Glad Glad Glad

Flipper Anderson

Just reading that name sends chills down my spine. I do remember the game where he completely dismantled us. I think my brain has tried to block out the specifics, but does anyone remember the stats on that game? I want to say he had 200+ yards recieving, with several TD\'s.

Wasn\'t it on MNF? But we\'re not allowed to talk about this in this thread. This thread is only for direct answers to Gator\'s question... I don\'t remember him saying anything about Flipper Anderson!! Jeez people, can\'t you stay on topic!?!? LOL

:P

Seriously Gator...

I wasn\'t avoiding the topic. What, am I scared to talk about old rivalries for fear that you\'ll show me up in some argument about whether or not I miss the rivalries as much as you? I didn\'t disagree with you and I wasn\'t trying to change the subject.

The last lines of your initial post were \"Sorry, I just had to stop and reflect on those days now that they certainly over. Just hope the new rivalries match the magic, intensity, and excitement of those games\"

I responded with \"The most fierce and hated rival remains - Atlanta. That was always the best game to me. And don\'t think we\'ll continue to beat up on the Bucs like we did last year. A couple of good whippings from them.... seeing sapp and brooks and rice and keyshawn dance around on the Dome floor a couple of times will make your blood boil and you\'ll hate them just as you did young, rice, owens, waters, warner, bruce, faulk, holt...\"

To me, it seemed like your post was about rivalries. I responded based on that fact... that I thought the topic at hand was Saints rivalries. I didn\'t realize that you wanted it kept SOLELY as discussion about the 49ers and Rams.

How come you didn\'t jump on Smitty and Pak? They didn\'t answer your questions directly. Why are you coming after me all of a sudden? Dude, we\'ve been cool for a long time what is this?

I don\'t know what I did to piss you off but it wasn\'t intentional. You were \"Busting my balls for fun...\" and I was \"sensitive.\" OK, so I jumped in the game. I busted yours back with my Flipper Anderson post and again you come after me. What\'s the deal? Dude, do you want me to go back and find out how many times I posed a direct question aimed specifically at you where your following post was didn\'t make a direct answer to the question?

I take these threads to be topic-based, where people can give their opinions. It\'s not a test. Your answers don\'t need to be concise. They don\'t have to be kept strictly to a discussion on whatever the initial poster wanted to talk about. You know how many times I\'ve posted things and by the third post the topic was COMPLETELY different? You\'re mad b/c I didn\'t reference two of our rivals, but instead talked about two others.

Man, I think you need to step back and think for a second Gator. Think about how cool we\'ve been for quite a while now. Why are you coming after me?

I was watching the game in \'01 in st.Louis. The Rams were killing the Saints at halftime and the Saints came back, mostly in the third quater, and won. A few guys at work, new to the Rams bandwagon, were popping off about how the Rams were going to kill the Saints the Friday prior to the game so I recorded it and brought it in titled \"The Silence of the Rams\". I personally wont miss the Rams. Not because of their explosiveness or talent, which they still have by the way marvinb6, but because of their ducking receivers. If they have room they\'re gone, but if someone is within five yards-they drop or run out of bounds as quickly as possible. I loved when Pathon got rocked in the middle and lost his hat only to get right up and go back to work. THAT\'S football. I got tired of the pretty plays-something Haslett mentioned about the Rams also.
The Niners still have an ok team. Owens might be the best receiver out there but I hate him for obvious reasons. And Garcia just makes me wonder.. is he?....doesn\'t matter. The way he talks sounds like he belongs in the city of San Francisco.
Fact of the matter is, the Saints are by far in the toughest division in all of the NFL. All of the teams in that division have gotten considerably better except the Saints..so far. That\'s a little unsettling seeing as how it was the toughest division last year too. I\'m not too concerned yet. We\'ve got more money than most teams and five picks in the first three rounds of this years draft. Trades are still going to happen.
Yeah I\'m on edge waiting to see what happens, but I can\'t make any judgements until after the season starts.

I couldn\'t agree more about the Rams receivers!! What a bunch of pu$$ies! God, nothing pissed me off more in \'01 or whenever it was than hearing Martz talk about how the weren\'t a finesse team! Well what the f-ck were you? Hard nosed? Seeing those receivers duck and cover made me so mad. And then what-his-name from SF called them out. The Rams talked and talked about how they were going to show the 49ers who was finesse - game time came and the Ram receivers continued to fall down and run out of bounds. Of course, they won the game so they thought they were tough, but bottom-line that team still today is a bunch of bitc-es. You think I feel strongly about this? ;)

We\'re cool Gator. You gotta know there are easier ways to get me going than that. Just tell me Delhomme sucks and Brooks is the best thing to happen to football since the forward pass. ;)

You could also just say \"Turley\'s nuts\" or talk about how we did too much in free agency, and how we\'re wasting money on guy\'s like Horn when there are plenty of rookies out there just waiting to play for less. ha ha!

PS - this thread is reserved SOLELY for talk about the Saints/Rams and Saints/49ers rivalries. I expect no more posts like that last one. You\'re dodging the issue! :P Got ya.

The Falcons have always been our rival. Don\'t you remember being pissed about us letting Morten Andersen go the the Falcons, and then watching him stick a dagger in out heart year after year? Now the only thing about the Niners was trying to put Young down, great. Putting him out, more fun. Succeeded from time to time. Rams became a rivial late. There was usually a three way struggle for last. Falcons,Rams,Saints.......49\'ers was usually first and second.
