And that was my fear. Last year (when we should have dumped him) or the year before (when it would have been even better), we might have gotten something for him. Many who had not watched him play week-in and week-out may have believed he could be turned around. He'll be a backup, at best, if he's even in the NFL after this year.

I think we both expressed that same fear for a while now. We should have dumped this clown before last year. Now the more he plays, the less we will prob get for him. Same with Howard, who has done almost nothing this year, and we could have traded him last year. Aye Carumba.

I see us trading him for a Draft pick, if they get rid of him...I could see Collins giving NO another shot, remember we had him and let him go...I think the type of player that we want and would want to play for NO is pretty simple: young, talented, and most of all hungry to have a chance to play, ie Philip Rivers, Cleo Lemon, David Garrard, Seneca Wallace, David Greene, or a draft pick like Leinart or Jay Cutler, how about getting Kingsbury back, what about a Louisiana native that wants to do some good for LA like Craig Nall talented guy but in a log jam in GB, they have not dealt him away like they did AB, wonder why? What about some young free agents: two that played in LA are Rohan Davey or Matt Mauck. Davey got some great learning experiences in NE, what about another draft pick that is mature and has some game like DJ Shockley? We also have one guy we need to evaluate that the coaching staff is scared of and thats A-Mac, I think has is cared the guy comes in and does some good and makes AB look bad and his trade value falls even farther

Coaches area crap shoot...I don't see Carrol back in the NFL just yet...he has some great backups he wants to coach like John Booty...I like Tommy Tuberville...I also like Mark Richt, Houston Nutt isn't bad either, hard for College coaches to make the transition though, I think an assistant or head coach from elsewhere in the NFL might be good, Brian Billick may be looking for a job or even Jack Del Rio if they don't make a decent run at the AFC Championship

Whodi I thought we might have gotten it better for Brooks with the simplified playbook but apparently that wasn't the case. Besides Bouman last year who else did we have that could have possibly come in before that 4 game mirage?? I knew even in 2000 when he came in to finish the season that we should have stuck with Blake. Even Jake in 2001 & 2002. I don't know he showed some good in 2001 & 2002 but after that he fell off. OK I will stop my ranting. This is my pick though, Michael Robinson from Penn State, then I can't remember his name, from Notre Dame next?

I say trade AB, Carney, Howard and Deuce and we might be able to get a high 2nd rounder for all of them. I included Deuce in this because we don't need to make the same mistake with him that we have with AB and wait too long before he's worth nothing.

We have to keep our expectations on a trade w/ him involved very low. There's no way anyone in the league would give up a 12 pack for Brooks!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, & we can definately forget future considerations. By now, everyone knows Brooks is garbage. :lol: :lol: :lol:

I don't think we should be giving up on Deuce this early guys. He's still a young man. He can bounce back if he wants to; if he's willing to put in the work, and I think he will. When he's healthy he has proved he can be a top 10 back in this league. Don't write him off yet, I'm warning you

And also, I'm pissed about Howard. I was so angry when we didn't get rid of him this offseason. I seriously think we could've gotten a first-rounder for him, and now we'll get nothing. DUMB

I'm not a Brooks defender by any stretch and am looking forward of unloading him.

But let's keep our eye on the ball here everyone. Peter King is a moron.

Peter King is the guy who says things like:
1. Pick Danny Wuerffel of the redskins as your fantasy QB.
2. Pennington's 2 rotator cuff surgeries aren't going to slow him down, he'll be a great QB.
3. Joey Harrington will be ok with a change of scenery.
4. Maybe someone would be willing to give a 4rth for Brooks.

This makes no sense to me at all. Now I'll grant you that no one will give up their 1st rounder for him. But I don't think it's a crazy reach to get a 3rd this year and a conditional 3rd next year that could go up to a 2nd if he really plays well. Or even a 1st if he has a career season.

The sticking point is going to be what the Saints do with his contract. Teams won't trade anything if they are sure we cut him. So in order to have trade value we have to:
1. Be willing to pay him the huge cap number next year.
2. Restructure his deal and then trade him.
We just can't cut him or even give the impression that we are willing to cut him.

It's unfortunate that we've let it deteriorate to this point because it's possible we won't get any value at all for a guy who probably has 3-4 "productive" (by AB standards) years left in him.

But the fact is that King is more off his rocker than usual to think simultaneously a) that Chad Pennington has trade value after 2 shoulder surgeries in a position that requires him to throw the ball and b) that Brooks, who takes good care of his body, is only worth maybe a 4th.

The one thing you missed? He put Kerry Collins on the short list. Collins, who couldn't handle this town when it was "normal". To me, that is enough to have your reporter's license taken away. The idea that a)we would want him or b) he would come back to the scene of his lowest career point is just moronic and devoid of rational thought.

I wouldn't cringe at Harrington. Hard to say with Carr...he gets sacked too much to really analyze his play. Schaub from Atl? Volek? A couple of names I would like to see, even though I don't really see us getting either of them.

Favre for a last year close to his family to throw 25 Tds and 25 picks? Hey....I would watch, but it wouldn't really get us anywhere.
