According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Haslett is seeking a five-year contract extension -- a substantial increase from the two-year extension Haslett had been seeking earlier this year. In addition, Haslett wants control of football operations, a move that would marginalize the role of current GM Mickey Loomis.

Really, come on. This is just a ploy to get rid of himself. He wants out of there. A 5 year extension? Full control? I think he's playing his cards so Benson will fire him. If he gets this then not only has Benson lost his marbles, but it's also time for his medication.

Come on, he's trying to leave as best he can. Everyone has left the organization and even Haz wants out.

Agreed. This way if he gets fired he gets his money. Other than that if he quits he loses money. Now if he gets his offer..oh boy I don't even want to think about it. Wonder if Benson is gonna call his bluff?

I'll agree to 5 ex-lax tablets, and full control of the mens room.

while even i wanted haz gone, if he were to get control, i'd put up with it just to see what he can do if his hands are'nt tied..........
i'll write this yr off or wash it off, and hope he can do better than he has..........but as for brooks, it is time to start over, and though toddddddddd is not the answer, brooks is'nt either. something is going on to cause descendtion aside from the hurricane and benson and i can't see haz at the middle of it........
and though i can see players on edge because of all that's happened it really is no excuse to lay down.... smitty

Haz, don't let the door hit ya. You're about as likely to get that 5 year extension as Bum Phillips is to come back and be coach next year. By the way, is he still alive?

Yeah, I am really tired of the ole Haz Saints. There is just some lack of mental preparation that happens too often. I've said it before....Bellichick would have routinely won 10 games with the guys we have had.

Having said that, it will be interesting to see who actually WANTS Jim's job. I would imagine it would be a young, unproven guy.....this job isn't exactly attractive. No QB, an owner that is bat$hit crazy, an uncertain geographical future, no GM....I would think most assisstant jobs would be more compelling for potantial coaches.

Unless we had a real shot at Matt Leinart. Our location situation will be settled in early Jan., so a pick that high in the draft, and the potential to get a franchise QB, could be enticing to a number of coaches.
