i understand you now. but with having the 1st pick, and benson making it known financially he can't even pay haz, the contract ext. he had promised him what does that mean as far as can we actually pay the signing bonus that a 1st pick will require?

Haz, AB, Howard are all gone, freeing up alot of extra cash for the number one. If we trade Deuce for a QB, we will save alot more.

BUSH FOR PRESIDENT, REGGIE THAT IS!!!!!!

And that is one of the reasons why

I say trade #1 for a bucket load........
The other reason is that every year we say fix this, OR fix that.
And it turns out we shoulda fix this AND that.

So we trade off that future Pro Bowler Bush - who may do an Eli and say he ain't coming to New Orleans anyway - and we mix it up a bit with:
some talented lower draft - every year they make out, and
some free agents with a grudge, those who had great work ethic but was not always a starter.

We are now looking for new leaders (or are we just looking for leaders for the firat time???).[/u]

This will be the first year in 6 that we have decided to actually look at QB as a problem. That in itself is worth two or three wins, the defense has been better this year than they had been in a while.

You don't pass on Leinart. No way, no how. Bush isn't even on our radar. Hello, Deuce McAllister. I am sure people generally line up around the block to take a former pro bowler who just blew out his knee, but let's say they don't. We just gave Deuce a new deal. UNTRADEABLE at this point. We have to take Leinart.

Fair Enough whodi

I like Leinart. I believe he can deliver, although almost everyone (who aren't WhoDats) think he is a bust.

Deuce was my man - his statuette sits proudly on my television.

(But now "Manimal" is the man. Have to go with who gave me some excitement this year - and that is Will Smith).

The debate will run.......... There's many good solutions......... and only 1 best one.

You maybe right whodi.

If we get #1 pick, and say 49ers get #2, then we provoke 49ers into a trade where we still get your man Leinart plus ????

Please tell me who is saying that. He is the consensus number one pick if Bush doesn't coem out, and two since he will. He graded out as number one over all last year, and Kiper is grading him out higher than Eli and Carson Palmer. Dude is the real deal.

That is a GREAT idea. Talk up taking Bush or something, see if they bite. I don't know if they will, but it won't hurt to try. They are definitely not taking Leinart, so we have to be careful with trade downs. Let's say the team at #3 wants Bush, and we trade there. The 49ers could screw us by letting someone who wants Leinart trade into the number two spot. So if we are first, if the number two team doesn't offer something to move that one spot, we take Leinart there and don't risk it IMO.

Yeah, ask Barry Sanders how that worked out for him. Look, going with Bush certainly can't hurt the Saints by any means, but this franchise has drafted only one quarterback in the first round in their history (A. Manning). I know they gave away their #1 for Dave Wilson in the supp. draft, but I'm talking about actually using their first round pick on draft day for a franchise quarterback. You build the offense around Leinart and a running game. Don't ask Leinhart to carry the offense on his back, instead ask him to manage it. If you are going to trade any picks, trade the second round pick for more picks, get a linebacker in the second, and they have got to get a decent backup running back in the third. Just my opinion.
