Horn speaks on a top pick

Perhaps the dream scenario for the Saints would be to land the No. 1 pick and trade down one spot, where they could draft Leinart at No. 2.

Saints receiver Joe Horn expressed doubt the Saints would even pay the price for a top one or two pick.

"We probably won't draft them anyway, even if we had the first pick," Horn said, referring to Bush and Leinart, though he mistakenly referred to Bush as "Devin Bush" before being corrected by teammate DontÃÃâ€*’© Stallworth.

Trading down has certainly been a part of the Saints' history. Only twice have they selected a player in the top two picks, when they drafted tailback George Rogers No. 1 overall in 1981 and quarterback Archie Manning No. 2 overall in 1971.

It looks to me, in that article, like Loomis and the Aints are positioning themselves to have excuses and reasons not to take a great player in the draft...They always do this..."We're poor, its a gamble, we're not ready" its all BS...You watch they are gonna trade down and we will get nothing...Benson will spend next season locked in litigation with the league and the Saints play their last season in LA and mount a 1-15 record get the top Pick and use when they go to SA...Litigation works just ask Al Davis

I dunno. I actually support a trade down scenario.

Think of the possibilities if we were to have multiple first round picks... along with multiple second round picks... along with an NFL-sponsored free agent bonus for coming to N.O.... along with an increased (at least temporary) salary cap... along with a new QB... along (hopefully) with a new head coach... along (hopefully) with a new defensive coordinator....

It's an exciting scenario.

I agree with a trade down scenario. We need many picks to build an offensive line and work on that damn D. Getting Bush and then bolstering that line in front works for me but if not Bush then trade the pick...

Other teams will pay more for the opportunity to draft Bush, than they would Leinart. If we can't trade for Rivers, then we have to address the position somehow.

we can pass on matt. we can get the kid from bowling green. well that will be if he comes out. he may stay for his senior year. but the kid has 60% completion all three years. threw 26 td's and 7 int's this year. well if he comes out i would like to see us get him. maybe pick up a veteran for a year while he learns. if we can't get bush man i don't want to take a chance on matt. i could be wrong because i am not an nfl scout but i did stay at a holiday inn last night

Your team stinks

RE: Horn speaks on a top pick

I'm also for trading down. We could get plenty of solid players with the extra pick or two we could obtain. I like the fact that we'll have all the cards on the table... hopefully we won't blow it.

Jacobs is a very accurate quarterback with a strong arm and plenty mobility. I wouldn't mind him in the second either spk. That 26 to 7 td to int ratio was a bad year for him. He also missed a lot of games this season and he still put up those numbers. Look at his track record, he's going to be a solid pro.

On the side note if anyone is interested, Brady Quinn is returning for his senior season. I wouldn't be surprised with another season under Weiss, he'll become a top 5 pick next year.

Brady Quinn will be a top 5 pick, so is Matt Leinart. Unless someone offers us the world, no thanks on a trade down.
