You make the pick?

Ok, I see alot of discussion about a select few draft picks so I'm just curious who would every pick if given the chance:

I would take Leinhart.

You never pass on a franchise quarterback, and if Leinart is there, the Saints should take him. I think Reggie Bush is a special player, but franchise quarterbacks are worth more than franchise running backs.

At first, I was skeptical on Leinhart, but listening to everyone else, I became convinced. Leinhart is my choice.

RE: Re: You make the pick?

i want leinart. draft leinart baby:

1)leinart-usc qb.

2)safety

3)lb

4)de

5)fb

6)te

7)athlete

that should be enough to at the worst playoffs and at best superbowl baby. there will be no more behind the wr's passes. no more int's, no more losses cause leinart will be in a saints uniform. i can't wait to see him...

if #2 overal leinart. if #1 overall, work a trade to get an extra 2nd or a 2007 1st and get leinart too

As much as I would love to get a franchise qb in this year's draft, that may not be what is best for New Orleans.

Let me explain. We have no idea where the Saints will be playing beyond the 2006 season. We are going to have to sell out nearly every game next year to show the NFL that this region can still support the team. If we are not winning, then I just don't see that happening. That's why I'm not sure if drafting Leinart is the right thing.

If the Saints draft Leinart, they are almost guaranteed to have a losing season. This will probably lead to poor game attendance, which will justify (in the league's point of view) moving the team. In other words:

Drafting Leinart = Saints leaving LA for L.A.

That is why I say we should draft A.J. Hawk. He will make an immediate impact on this team. I honestly believe the run defense could jump from 27th in the NFL to top fifteen, if not better, simply because of his presence in the middle. Combine drafting Hawk with a new coaching staff and a quality veteran qb (I say Kitna), and this is a playoff contender.

Of course, I could be completely wrong.

hate to say i think you're completely wrong in my opinion. drafting hawk would be pointless, we've been losing games because of poor qb play. we draft leinart we win, it's that simple. he can read defenses unlike the previous qb.

Winwin, when you quote someone, you generally want to type your own comments outside of the quote box. Unless, of course, you're making some lame attempt at being witty.

RE: Re: RE: Re: You make the pick?

I think the pick depends on how immediate you want an impact. I this Bush would give us an immediate impact where maybe Leinert may have to learn the PRO system. With that I say Leinert since we will pretty much be with a new coach and expectations for next year can't be too high anyway. Give him a year to break in and we may be good to go after that.

RE: Re: RE: Re: You make the pick?

AJ Hawk without a doubt. Use AMAC as our backup but Bouman and Brooks. Take Jacobs or Cutler first pick in the 2nd round.

RE: Re: RE: Re: You make the pick?

So AJ Hawk is a OLB ? Why would the Saints Destroy their chance of a good offense with either Reggie or Leinart.

RE: Re: RE: Re: You make the pick?

So why do you think that pick is stupid when he his clearly the best their is and reggie too, even if we get the 2nd pick which is what the Saints get, means that reggie or leinart is ours?

Do your homework.

Quarterback: 'So AJ Hawk is a OLB ? Why would the Saints Destroy their chance of a good offense with either Reggie or Leinart.'

Give joe horn a fellow reciever that can catch! we lead the nfl in dropped passes. forget speed and go for guts over the middle and hands! Stallworth and Henderson do not require a shut down CB to gaurd them. Besides they flinch over the middle. We also need to use FB as a threat running and catching and that gives Duce a better chance of not being the focus for defenses. Besides we have for once got a good group of backup RB. The offense needs a G, LOT. and a TE. Zach is coming into his own. So get him some help.

The defense is were we need it ASAP. AJ is to good to pass on! He would also improve the weak side LB with his pick. But if the offer is right... hmmmmmm... no take him.
