The 08 Prediction
 

I have to get my prediction out early , so here it is :

The first announcement out of the Saints head quarters will be the resignation of Jim Hasbeen Haslett and the appointment of the new Head Coach Lap dog Venturi . Benson will try to fluff it with the upgraded defensive rankings , but all will know better .

On to the draft , despite having a clear shot at Leinart , Benson's wallet will be the big factor and spending big money on a top tier player will just not be what he wants so look for a drop and the picking of the Texas Longhorns quarterback , some will say great pick but Benson's motivation will be clear , put a familiar Texas name under center and draw local interest from San Antonio . If this scenario plays out , look for alot of *****ing from 08 .

Free agent's you say , alot of bye bye from our own players and trash picking from around the league .

The bright spot , Brooks will be traded to the Oakland Raiders if they do not trade for the draft pick to get Leinart . If Oakland moves up for Leinart then Brooks will have in the Arizona sun and the additional picks from the trade and the drop down will put some depth on the field ......

Hey 08, I think that the Saints will trade Brooks for Collins straight up or a third rounder for us.

NOOOOOO not Terry. Keep AB before that and redo his contract. Collins will be a free agent after they cut him any how. I agree with you in i can not see Benson drafting high. The last thing he wants is a full stadium here in N.O. by drafting a savior at QB. He has fired and forced out to many in the front office to mess it up like that. We are going to loose howard as it stands now with bentley not signed. Or even worse Bentley himself. Benson knows what he doing. He is a car sales man. So do not under estimate how low he can go.

I really hope you're wrong 08. Because if you're right, if they really do make that sorry excuse for a defensive coordinator head coach (again) I am selling (no, throwing away) every Saints item I own while refusing to watch even a single game next season.

I'm serious.

If he does that - and he'd BETTER NOT do that - then I'm done with this team for next year (at least). I will remain done it - and it will stay that way until Venturi is either replaced and/or (preferably) Benson dies and a new owner takes over.

Here are the BMG predictions...

There are 2 offseason scenarios: The Benson wants to leave at any price OR Saints fans are rewarded for their longsuffering.

If Benson wants to leave at any price, I predict Haslett is not fired. If he quits, Venturi will be the next head coach. We make no real moves in FA and blame front office inaction on hurricane damage. We trade way down in the first round and draft project players. We release Brooks and Howard and get no value for either. Ticket sales plummet to an all time low and Benson demands the league allow him to re-locate. Litigation follows. 08 ******* profusely all season long.

If Saints fans are to be rewarded (I'm feeling optimistic today so I choose to believe this)

1. Haslett leaves and a desperate to save his job Loomis hires Brad Childress to be the head coach. In a perfect world, Loomis becomes the new Fielkow and hires a newly resigned Phil Savage to be the de facto GM. (too much to ask, but a pleasant thought nonetheless). Childress demotes Venturi to a smaller area of responsibility.

2. Savage deals Brooks to either the Jets or the Cardinals for a 3rd rounder and a conditional pick next year.

3. The Saints threaten to franchise Howard again and then deal him to the Rams for a 1st day pick in this draft.

4. If Houston loses today, the Saints deal Gandy to them for their 3rd rounder and makes them feel a lot better about taking Bush at #1.

5. Boo Williams is cut given the emergence of Hilton.

6. The Saints trade down in the draft in hopes of getting someone like Hawk or Ngata and a quality LT.

7. Vince Young stays at Texas for his senior season.

8. 08 and Diva finally do it and the result is less innuendo on the board.

9. With Brooks finally gone, BMG suffers a minor crisis in trying to pick a new log-in.

You guys are scaring me to death, I don't see Venturi holding the head coaching job in N.O, in fact I see Haslett remaing as the head coach and Venturi gone along with Brooks.
I can't wait for the draft, I don't think we draft a player that we have been talking about, would cost Benson to much money, I do see Benson using his high card to capture a decent FA qb

Just the reason Benson might want to pull off something like this .......

Our only hope is that if Benson does this , alot of people stand up and ask why ??? Something questioned so loudly that even the league office would want to know why ......

Low interest in Louisianna equals a clear shot to San Antonio , at least in Benson's mind .

I'm not in Louisiana anymore, so we could modify that statement to be "low interest in the nation". But if he were to actually drop to that level, knowingly sabatoge the team for a ridiculous personal agenda, then there is nothing left in that barren twisted mind anyway.

The point is, the Saints are at a rare opportunity of hope here. High hope. Hope like I haven't seen in years. With all the incentives this team is going to get, the draft, FA, and new coaches... it would just KILL ME to see such an opportunity wasted. Do you know what I'm saying? It would be a death-blow to the heart.

I think the tactic is , pillage and plunder and burn the bridge on the way out ...... :wink:

FA incentives .

Now this is the one that has my interest , how does this work ??? Spend lots of money over the cap to have to get below cap when ???
