RE: Coach

Sorry guys we crashed right after we posted the news on the front page. LOTS of people tried to log on all at once which was too much at the time. Sorry we were down. I'm trying to merge together some of these threads about Haz, not trying to step any toes just need to get this organized into one discussion.

Thanks

RE: Coach

this sums up haslettusdown 4 years with the saints. copied from a article at espn...

A popular coach with his players, and viewed as a solid football man, Haslett nonetheless presided over a team that did not play up to its talent level during his tenure.

RE: Coach

Thought something big was going down!

Man coaches R dropping like Kris Brown FG Attempts! ( I hate that guy! )

Do we hire any of the recently departed??

Tice? Martz (He Heh) Capers? Sherman? And I hear the Buff coach is on the bubble as well.

Winwin 01-02-2006 03:54 PM

RE: Coach

capers as defensive coordinator.

TheDeuce 01-02-2006 03:54 PM

WHOLE NEW COACHING STAFF!!!

Not sure if everybody already knows this or not, but I just listened to Loomis' press conference on neworleanssaints.com, and he said that when they hire the new coach (which will most likely be somebody who has to have NFL experience), that the new head coach will be able to bring in whatever assistant coaches he wants. Thank goodness. Looks like venturi will be out of here finally.

The new coach has to have NFL experience... that's according to Loomis who will be heading the search committee

richy kotite, win

LongTimeFan 01-02-2006 04:04 PM

As I said in an earlier post I didn't think that Haz would have got the boot, one reason I thought is that Benson would not have wanted to pay Haz the 3.4 mil due to him next season and also have to pay the new coach, maybe Benson isn't as tight as we first thought, but at the same time I'm not really surprised, I'm mean look at Haslett's record, let's hope that we get a top notch coach this next time, could Brooks hang around if the new coach wants to keep him? or doesn't matter because Loomis and Benson wants him gone?
It will be a very interesting off season to say the least.

The Force is strong. :lightsabres:

To become a Jedi requires the deepest commitment and most serious mind. It is not a venture to be undertaken lightly. A Jedi who fails in his training can be a very serious threat. The dark side of the Force beckons. Be patient spkb25.

again, dreaming is fine at nightime. but please wake-up. we are dealing with tom benson after a year in which he didn't make any money. the only candidates will be inexperienced in actually being a head coach, someone on the cheap.

i dont think he can afford to be cheap at a time like this... the franchise is in jeopardy n he knows it.... he has so make something happen or he will lose his ass....

spkb25 01-02-2006 04:28 PM

yeah he has to live off interest good point pak

newshound 01-02-2006 06:45 PM

what do you guys think, he got fired because the Saints already have a replacement in mind? I know this team a little and I can't believe they'd let him go unless they had someone in their heads who they talked to.

Gary Kubiak fits that mold. Jimmy Johnson and others wouldn't be so interested in coaching for Tom Benson. It's going to have to be an up and coming guy which will be cheap for Benson and that combines with a nice first round selection and the Dome is a guarentee sell out. I already tried to call Arturo the ticket broker to re-up my tickets.

I'm sold!

MordorIV 01-02-2006 09:08 PM

finally he's gone.

JOESAM2002 01-03-2006 12:49 AM

To quote a great song, " Thank God and Greyhound he's gone."

hagan714 01-03-2006 07:59 AM

Well i was wronge i thought they would keep him for PR reasons and the choas next year will have. The mess here will make it hard to get a good coach i think. There is no stability in this team's front office and an owner that is hated. God only knows who the fool will be. But i am betting Tom will use this to strengthen his move out of NO. I want an offensive head coach!

MordorIV 01-03-2006 11:30 AM

Well what About Mike Tice Guys?

D_it_up 01-03-2006 01:28 PM

Mike Tice....another perrenial under-achiever. How many of his teams choked down the stretch? If we could have co-head coaches, I'd take Tice for the first half of the season ONLY. That's normally when his Viking teams were at their best, excluding this season. Then hire someone else for the 2nd half. I'm not sold on Tice. Minnesota had more talent than the Saints, IMO, and he couldn't do anything with it.

pakowitz 01-03-2006 01:56 PM

mike tice....zzzz minnesota had more problems with them then in the past 20 years....

gandhi1007 01-03-2006 05:56 PM

Supposedly, Pete Carroll is sticking his name in the hat for NFL head coaching jobs. How nice would it be to get Carroll, draft Leinhart & let him start in a system he already knows & is comfortable with. It would definately be nice to give your rookie QB a system he already knows. And I would definately say that Carroll is an effective offensive coach with NFL experience.
